Rock the Block is officially returning for Season 8, and Mina Starsiak Hawk teased what’s happening behind the scenes.

HGTV confirmed that the competition series will return with new episodes set in Nashville, Tennessee, in early 2027. The Season 8 cast includes past contestants and familiar faces. Starsiak Hawk will team up with her Season 7 competitor Scott McGillivray, while Season 2 winners Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt will seek another victory on the block. Other teams include Sabrina Soto and Anthony Carrino, and former Trading Spaces co-stars Paige Davis and Carter Oosterhouse.

Starsiak Hawk shared HGTV’s casting announcement via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, October 6, writing, “Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, but I’m back on The Block!!!”

She went on to tease the new season in a series of since-deleted Instagram Story videos. “End of Day 1 filming. If you guys all saw the press release, I’m doing Rock the Block again ‘cause I’m a glutton for punishment,” she quipped. “But no, I’m super excited, tired. My back and my legs are not used to standing for this long. It takes a little bit to get used to it. But so excited to be back on the block, and Scott is my partner. An unlikely duo, maybe some would say, but I think maybe that’s gonna be our superpower.”

Starsiak Hawk answered fan questions about the show, including one that read, “How many weeks do you actually film for RTB?” She replied, “We film for seven weeks, so it’s a good chunk of time.”

In response to another fan who asked, “How do you handle being away from the kids for 6ish weeks?” Starsiak Hawk said, “It’s definitely super hard, but being in Tennessee this time, I’m an hour flight from home. So, I get to be home next week, and then, for like a couple weekends. And then, the end big chunk of, like, three weeks, pretty much here are straight. So, that’s gonna be really hard for me.”

Starsiaks Hawk shares her two kids, Jack and Charlotte, with her husband, Steve Hawk. “They don’t seem to care,” she joked of being away from home during filming. “They have a grand old time with Dad, but yeah. A little tricky.”

Ty Pennington will return to host the new season, which will see the teams “take the stage for an epic home reno showdown highlighting classic Southern architecture and small-town living in hopes of claiming bragging rights and a street named in their honor,” the show’s description says.

In a first for Rock the Block, the Season 8 teams will renovate “homes that offer identical floorplans and square footage but unique exterior facades,” the season’s synopsis continues. “Each team will have seven weeks and a $275,000 budget to transform the properties with their signature vision and custom design style and clinch the highest appraised property value.”

HGTV has not yet announced the show’s official premiere date or which stars will appear as guest judges throughout the season.
