MS NOW’s Lawrence O’Donnell Reacts to Trump Calling Aide Natalie Harp ‘Perfect’

MS NOW anchor Lawrence O’Donnell is wondering how the rest of the Trump family feels after the president called White House aide Natalie Harp “this perfect person” during his Nebraska rally.

Donald Trump made the comments on Monday (October 5) after Harp briefly appeared on stage to hand him an executive order. The president compared her to a Price Is Right model before describing her as “this perfect person.” O’Donnell highlighted the remark on Tuesday’s (October 6) edition of The Last Word.

“He calls [Harp] ‘this perfect person,’ something he has never said about the current Mrs. Donald Trump,” O’Donnell said, referring to First Lady Melania Trump. “Those three words have been spoken by Donald Trump about exactly one human being, not one of his daughters, not one of his sons, not his vice president. Natalie Harp, this perfect person who was born in San Diego.”

O’Donnell’s mention of San Diego referred to another comment Trump made during Monday’s rally. When talking about his war with Iran, the president said, “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”

“Every Senate Republican stayed silent about this today,” O’Donnell continued. “Every Republican member of the House of Representatives stayed silent about this today, including Congressman Darrell Issa, who currently represents the San Diego area.”

There has been much speculation about the closeness of Trump and Harp’s relationship in recent months, especially since The Daily Beast published Harp’s personal letters to Trump, in which she gushed about the president and her devotion to him.

Harp was also one of the few people who was with Trump when he fled Air Force One in a catering truck to avoid an apparent Iranian plot to target the president’s private plane.

In August, Real Time host Bill Maher joked about Trump and Harp’s relationship, saying, “Now, Natalie is kind of Trump’s emotional support employee. That’s true. She travels with him everywhere and she brings a portable, wireless printer so she can print out flattering news articles. Trump is old school. He wants hard copies of the smoke blown up his ass.”
