Kimmel Blasts Trump For ‘Indefensible’ Rally Joke: ‘I’m Going to Report Him to the FCC!’
What To Know
- Jimmy Kimmel criticized Donald Trump for making an “appalling” joke at a Nebraska rally about Iran ‘taking out’ Los Angeles and San Diego.
- The late-night host called it one of the most ‘indefensible’ statements he’s ever heard from the president.
- He later sarcastically threatened to report Trump to the FCC.
Jimmy Kimmel called out Donald Trump on Tuesday (October 6) over what he called one of the most “appalling” comments the president has ever made, and threatened to report him to the FCC.
“King Leer, with two Es, said something truly appalling,” the late-night host said on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! before throwing to a clip from Trump’s midterms rally in Nebraska. When talking about his war with Iran, the president said, “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”
“He’s talking about Iran bombing us,” Kimmel continued. “And I know he says a lot of crazy things. I know this is something we’ll forget about by Thursday when he accidentally swallows a baby at a rally or whatever the hell he does next. But that’s one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard even this maniac make.”
He added, “Openly musing about Iran, a country we are currently at war with, taking out two American cities while his adoring fans cheer him on. But it’s okay, because we’re liberals; we deserve to be bombed. Can somebody please change this man’s diaper already? I think that old nut has been sitting in his own excrement too long.”
“He has the ranta-virus, and it needs to be treated medically,” Kimmel quipped. “Now we have our own president wishing death to America… We had already had a huge bomb here this weekend. It’s called Digger.”
The comedian went on to call Trump’s comments “insane, even from him,” and recalled the reaction to his own joke about Melania Trump being an “expectant widow” back in April. He aired a montage of Fox News anchors and Trump administration members calling for the FCC to punish him and for ABC to take him off the air.
“So, if that joke, if that rhetoric, was ‘deranged,’ and ‘dangerous,’ and ‘violent’ and ‘dark,’ surely you must be mortified by the president of the United States casually ruminating about the deaths of 13 million people?” Kimmel asked.
He then played footage of right-wing TV reporters brushing off Trump’s remarks and saying “the left” can’t take a joke. “That’s right,” Kimmel retorted. “You know what? I’m going to report him to the FCC.”
As the audience cheered, Kimmel added, “Now it’s a joke, before it was not a joke. The hypocrisy is so glaring, you can’t even turn your head toward it. You will get blind.”
