‘Best Medicine’ Sneak Peek: Eliza Coupe Sings Karaoke — And It Goes Terribly Wrong
What To Know
- Eden’s attempt to fit in with the Port Wenn community backfires during a disastrous karaoke performance in the next Best Medicine.
- The episode also features Port Wenn’s competitive floating crate race.
- Josh Charles talks Martin’s blood phobia and Eden.
Eden (Eliza Coupe) really is never going to fit in in Port Wenn. TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, October 6, episode of Best Medicine is just another example of that.
As the video begins, it’s karaoke night and Louisa’s (Abigail Spencer) is singing. Then, after the applause, Eden volunteers to be next. “I don’t want you to worry. I am actually very good at karaoke,” she tells Martin (Josh Charles), who thought they came here to stop it. She changed her mind. But watch the clip above to see what happens when she begins singing…
While Martin got back together with his ex-girlfriend Eden between seasons, the town has made it clear which side they stand on, and it’s Louisa, even though she’s being completely respectful of their relationship. Martin’s aunt Sarah (Annie Potts) even told Eden all about their kiss once she learned that he might be moving back to Boston. But Eden’s not a bad person — she’s even trying to help Martin with his blood phobia, which now the entire town knows about. She talked him through treating a gunshot wound in the second episode, and that continues in this one, Josh Charles told us when we were on set over the summer.

“We’ve filmed some stuff this episode. Eden has some particular ideas of some sort of exposure therapies, things that she’s surprising and shocking him with. And that’s kind of some humorous to various degrees,” he said. When it comes to his blood phobia, “he’s feeling like a real failure. I think he’s someone who’s just been wildly successful in his career and feels like he’s just not making the progress that he would like. And I think it’s really humbling for him, which is a hard, hard thing.”
Also in this episode, titled “Crate Expectations,” Fox teases, “As the citizens of Port Wenn get competitive during their annual floating crate race, Martin urgently tries to give important medical advice when three men have positive pregnancy tests. Meanwhile, Eden learns she wants to be liked after her singing ‘causes’ a man to pass out and former record-holder Sarah coaches Peter in the art of crate racing.”
The thing is, as executive producer Liz Tuccillo said, “Eden is going to be around causing trouble and making everybody unhappy since no one is on team Eden in this town.” Added fellow EP Rodney Ferrell, she’s “never going to fit in and never going to be right for Martin.”
