CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Laughs in Scott Jennings’ Face Over Trump

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins was not buying Scott Jennings‘ defense of Donald Trump spending taxpayer dollars on a political ad disguised as a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Monday night (September 28).

Jennings appeared on Monday’s edition of The Source alongside Ashley Allison, the former national coalitions director for the Biden campaign in 2020. The pair shared their thoughts on the two recently released PSAs, which many have criticized as being overtly political.

“I think a reasonable person could look at these and be mad about it, and I think a reasonable person could look at it and say, ‘Well, other presidents have also run PSA’s,'” Jennings said. “If I had offered any advice on it, it would have been PSA is fine. I probably wouldn’t have cut and pasted material from a previous campaign ad, which I’ve read that they may have done.”

He added, “I think it’s pretty standard practice for administrations to do PSAs, but I can see why somebody would raise objections if they thought the material was overly political.”

“But what is the public service announcement in the ad? That was my question watching it,” Collins responded.

“Vote Republicans!” Allison quipped.

“A PSA, I think most people would think of, is boil your water, or there’s a tornado coming, or you need to prepare for this. What is this public service announcement in that ad that you, Scott?” Collins asked as she and Allison laughed at the situation.

“Well, the White House assessment was that it was making people feel good about America,” Jennings argued. “It’s a perfectly reasonable message. I think PSAs are a good thing.”

“Okay, I’m still not sure what the public service announcement was, Scott,” Collins retorted as she continued to laugh.

“Warning against communism sounds like a public service to me,” Jennings fired back. “We got one whole political party that’s fallen in love with it… I think they need to be warned, Kaitlan.”

Collins replied, “But that came as [Trump] had the red carpet rolled out for a communist leader,” referring to the recent visit of China’s Xi Jinping.

Allison added, “Using taxpayer dollars for a political ad, kicking the press out because you don’t like the coverage. Those are more communist like behaviors than just calling people communists.”
