Whoopi Goldberg has returned to The View following a recent absence.
The star reveals an update about the project that will continue to take her away from the talk show’s table.

The View saw the return of Whoopi Goldberg during the show’s September 28 broadcast as the panelist made her comeback following an ongoing absence.

As previously revealed, Goldberg announced she’d be absent for a few filming days on The View to participate in Netflix‘s forthcoming film, Women Like Us. When she made her grand return on September 28, Goldberg greeted the audience and her fellow panelists, saying, “I’m back for the day from filming the upcoming movie Women Like Us with Jenifer Lewis, Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, and director Tasha Smith.”

Goldberg took the opportunity to shout out her colleagues on the new gig, which sounds as though it’s ongoing, hinting at more upcoming absences from Goldberg. She was particularly complimentary towards Smith, who is also a performer when she’s not behind the camera, as Goldberg shared, “She does all kinds of stuff, and she’s kind of a unicorn because there aren’t that many female Black directors, and she’s got a whole thing going.”

“The fact that she’s assembled this group of women is kind of wonderful, and I just…” Goldberg said, pausing, “I always wanna tout her because I just think we always have to cheer each other on.” Goldberg’s words resonated with the audience and her fellow panelists, who shared applause.

“It’s kind of wild, and I’m having fun,” Goldberg shared, and when asked if it was the dream team, she said, “It is a version of the dream team of women.”

Goldberg also pointed out, “It always takes folks a little while to assemble female casts, because for some reason people feel like female casts don’t really do as well overseas… but women like seeing other women in movies. Guys like seeing women in movies,” she added as well. Described as a new girlfriends dramedy, Women Like Us is sure to delight with its impressively stacked cast.
