‘The View’: Ana Navarro Slams Judge Judy Over ‘Leave America’ Comment

Some of The View hosts can’t see Judge Judy’s point of view. Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin slammed the TV judge over comments saying that if people aren’t happy with America, they should leave.

Judith Sheindlin is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her show, Judge Judy, where she was “never shy about doling out all of her opinions,” according to Joy Behar. In a recent interview, the TV judge gave her opinion on America’s political climate.

“I have a house, and I have a home. I consider America my home,” she said. “America has been good to me. We are a capitalist country that revered excellence, that revered entrepreneurship, that revered all of the things that made us great.

“If you don’t like this country, go somewhere else. Don’t come to the greatest country in the world, the most successful country in the world, and say, ‘I wanna change it.’ There are other countries. If they have something else that you want, go there.”

Behar wasn’t too sure what she was trying to say. Alyssa Farah Griffin said that Americans have the right to criticize the country since it’s our First Amendment right, but she thinks some people on the left are moving towards socialism.

Navarro, who is of Nicaraguan descent, reached strongly. “I take umbrage at what she said, and I don’t like it at all. It’s said to me a lot of times on social media because I criticize Donald Trump and the government. I think we can distinguish between not loving the current government and liking America.”

“For me, because I love America, I have the duty and responsibility to call out the grift and the cruelty and the racism and the abuses of power and the anti-American actions that he is taking on a daily basis, like banning the press. That is exactly what distinguishes us from communism, the fact that we have freedom of the press.”

She went on to say that she had the opportunity to leave the country she was born in, but isn’t sure if her parents are proud of that decision. “If you want things to change in the government, you stay, you fight, you vote, you organize, and you are part of the change,” Navarro said.

Sara Haines said that she saw it as the opposite, where if someone doesn’t like the morals of the country, they should leave. Navarro clapped back and said that then President Trump should leave.

“I don’t think Judy is saying that if you disagree with Trump you should leave the country,” Behar said.

“I do,” Hostin chimed in. She said she heard it the way Navarro did and she heard it “loud and clear.” When Behar asked Hostin what she heard, the Afro-Latina cohost said she heard “a lot about me,” referring to Sheindlin, “and not a lot about the collective.”

“What is success if everyone else isn’t successful? What is success if there’s racism, classism, and people can’t afford food, and they can’t educate their children? I heard a lot of selfishness,” she said. “America is not great for all of its citizens, and you need to be able to put that out. It’s not ‘me, me, me.’ It’s the collective.”

“To me, she sounded like she was coming from a place of privilege,” Navarro said. As someone who has left their home country for another, she said it isn’t easy or cheap. “A lot of people don’t even have enough money to get a passport.”

“America is a place that has been in constant change. If we weren’t in constant change, then Native Americans would still be running the place. There has been constant change for this country, and change for the better. The fact that there has been an influx of immigrants has made it a diverse country and made it exceptional because of the immigration,” Navarro said passionately.

“I personally don’t want to leave the country,” Behar said. “I want Trump to leave the White House.”
