Sean Astin Joins ‘The Wayfinders’ Season 2

Sean Astin has joined the cast of The Wayfinders Season 2, TV Insider has learned. The sci-fi YA series from Angel Streaming stars Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ Tamara Smart, Evan Nikolas Fields, and Vincent Mattis.

The Wayfinders follows three high schoolers who are pulled out of their world and dropped into a realm of swords, sorcery, and monsters — where survival is just the beginning. With a rogue, a priestess, and a teenage werebear at their side, the unlikely heroes embark on quests through dungeons, battle hunters sent by a tyrant prince, and uncover a prophecy that may hold the key to both worlds. What starts as a desperate search for home becomes a journey that will test their courage and bind them together forever.

Astin plays Gideon Tibble, a.k.a. “The Collector,” in The Wayfinders Season 2. Gideon is a brilliant but eccentric historian and collector of ancient artifacts.

Gideon spent his life researching ancient unexplained magical phenomena, and is ridiculed for his belief in magic and the existence of another world. An ancient skull was stolen from his collection, which entangles him in a fight that will determine the fates of both worlds. See Astin as Gideon in the photos above and below.

Season 2 finds Flynn (Fields), Oaklee (Smart), and Cash (Mattis) still stranded in Tairngire, and getting home is only getting harder.

Calibor survives, but not as expected. Oaklee’s forbidden magic grows more powerful, and more dangerous, while Kavan declares his love for her at the worst possible moment. Aurora’s wedding gets crashed, leaving her uncertain whether she’s married or not. Back on Earth, the Wayfinders’ families finally uncover where the kids have gone, just as Darryl makes a devastating mistake: helping Goran resurrect the ancient sorceress Mardukh in the form of a 3D-printed destroying machine.

With Mardukh loose in Milford, a deadly monster-fighting arena, barbarian trials to survive, an epic homecoming dance where both worlds collide, and a prophecy warning that a Wayfinder must sacrifice everything, the team races to restore the Void Key and finally return home.

Astin’s credits include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Goonies, Stranger Things, and more, and he’s currently the president of SAG-AFTRA.
