‘Today’: Dylan Dreyer Gets Called Out for Asking Craig Melvin If He’s On a GLP-1

Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer, and Craig Melvin on the third hour of 'Today,' NBC, August 20, 2026.

Dylan Dreyer got called out by her Today 3rd Hour hosts Craig Melvin and Al Roker after making an off-camera comment about Melvin being on a GLP-1.

On the September 24 episode, the hosts talked about fast food chains that cater to customers who use GLP-1s. A GLP-1 helps to regulate blood sugar, slow down digestion, and send signals of fullness to one’s brain. Many people know them as Ozempic or Mounjaro, and they are used by people who want to lose weight.

According to People, during the discussion, Roker interrupted Dreyer and said, “Do you want to mention what you asked Craig during the story?”

“I asked if you do the shot,” Dreyer said to Melvin. “I did. You thought I was being judgy. I was literally just asking because I feel like everyone I know is on it.”

Melvin raised his eyebrows at his cohost’s comments. “I took it as maybe Craig should be on the shot,” he replied. Roker chimed in to say that Melvin did look like he lost some weight. “I have lost some weight. I know,” Melvin confirmed.

Dreyer insisted that she wasn’t trying to insult Melvin. “I think you just assume I’m being judgy,” she said.

“Assume! I sit next to you every day for years!” Melvin replied with disdain.

“I just make comments!” Dreyer defended.

Roker tried to end the fight with a light-hearted joke, saying, “Mommy and Daddy are fighting!”

However, Melvin did not confirm or deny whether or not he is on a GLP-1. None of the hosts have said if they are on it despite covering numerous stories about the weight loss drug. However, in September 2025, Jenna Bush Hager said that she didn’t take one because she “wants to eat. Among other reasons.” One in 10 adults are on a GLP-1, according to a new study.

The segment also came up on the first hour of Today with Melvin, Savannah Guthrie, and Carson Daly eating a Sausage Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s. It contains 20grams of protein, which most people use to lose weight.

Roker has lost weight in recent years, but that was for health reasons and before the GLP-1 craze started. He lost over 100 pounds after his gastric bypass in 2002.
