‘Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond’s Son Arrested for Alleged Assault of Police Officer

Jamar Goff, the son of Food Network star Ree Drummond, was arrested in Alabama on September 15. Goff was booked into Jefferson County Jail for allegedly assaulting a police officer, Us Weekly confirmed.

The charges against Goff include unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault on a police officer, drug paraphernalia for use or possession, and attempting to elude an officer. As of September 23, he was still in custody with bond set at $37,000.

TMZ obtained court documents about the incident, which stated that the 23-year-old was found sleeping outside without a shirt on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus. An officer responded to a call about a suspicious person.

When he woke Goff up and asked what he was doing, “he allegedly replied he was waiting for someone to come and sell him ‘ice,”‘ which the docs note is another name for methamphetamine,” per TMZ.

After the officer learned that Goff had a warrant out for his arrest, he attempted to detain him, which sent Goff running. He ended up at a local hospital and allegedly “used an open-handed palm strike” on an officer. In Goff’s backpack, police allegedly found a glass pipe, along with 1.8 grams of methamphetamine on his person.

Ree and her husband, Ladd Drummond, became foster parents to Goff after taking him in in 2018 when he was a teenager. It’s unclear where they stand with him today, as court documents noted that Goff is now homeless, according to TMZ.

Ree last publicly acknowledged Goff with a 2023 social media post for his birthday. “With Jamar, there’s a whole universe going on in that mind and heart and soul of his,” she wrote. “It’s a beautiful thing to behold.”

Jamar met the Drummond family through Ree’s sons, who played football with him after his recent transfer. While Ree didn’t specify exactly what happened that made the family take Jamar in, she wrote in a 2020 blog post,  “Jamar’s circumstances presented themselves to us in a way we couldn’t ignore. So, long story short, all six foot five inches of him showed up at our house one afternoon, bag in hand, ready to move in.”
