Most people know Rick Devens from Survivor 38 and 50, and now Big Brother, but what exactly does the reality TV star do outside of TV?

Now, in the final five of Season 28 of Big Brother, Devens, from Macon, Georgia, has to figure out who he can sit next to to secure the $750,000 win. He had won six competitions so far, as well as the Time Capsule power (The Diamond Power of Veto) and the Temptation money.

Early on, he made an alliance with his fellow Survivor castmember, Dee Valladares, and Season 26’s Angela Murray. From there, they branched out, making alliances with the newbies to try to secure themselves into a great spot in the game.

Right now, it’s not definitive what place he will come in on Big Brother, but he does want that money for his wife, Becca, and their two children, Jackson (Jack) and Juliet (Juju). Will he make it all the way to the end? Devens has never won Survivor but has come close. He has placed in seven and 24th, respectively. Here is what Rick Devens does for a living outside of reality TV.

Rick Devens is a Director of Communications

According to Devens’ LinkedIn, he works as a Director of Communications at Middle George State University. He has worked there for four years and seven months since March 2022. According to the school’s online paper, Devens directs the university’s “internal and external integrated communications strategy and implementation, which includes media, website, social media, and digital/print publications.”

Devens hosts podcasts

Along with reality TV and working at a college, Devens also runs two podcasts. He is the cohost of On Fire: The Official Survivor Podcast with Jeff Probst and Jay Wolff. Devens also used to host the Surviving Snyder Podcast with Dalton Ross.

Rick Devens was a journalist

Before becoming a reality TV superstar, Devens was a morning show anchor, sports director, and reporter for WGXA (FOX24/ABC16). He worked at this company for 10 years, from 2009 to 2019. Devens received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Film and TV, and Advertising from Virginia Tech. There, he minored in creative writing. Devens then went on to get his master’s in Public Relations from MGSU.
