’99 to Beat’: See First Look at Season 2 Games

Everyone who competes on 99 to Beat knows the one rule of the show — Don’t finish last! Season 2 is set to kick off on Wednesday, and we got a first look at some of the games contestants will try to win.

Host Erin Andrews and Ken Jeong will be in the booth, as usual, observing the games, giving commentary, and being thankful that they don’t have to compete in the challenges. The contestant who makes it to the very end and wins the final game takes home $1 million.

This season, like last, will feature a mix of reality TV stars, as well as everyday civilians. It will also have the show’s oldest contestant, Paul, who is 81 years old.

About the new season, Jeong told us, “Bigger. It’s better. It’s all the superlatives. Every player comes in just ready to go. They’ve seen season one. They know it’s for a million dollars. There’s more strategy. There’s more competition. Yet it still not only retains the heart; it magnifies it. There’s so much empathy, and there’s so much heart while still competing for life-changing money. People are actively rooting for each other and actively upset when their friends, family, siblings, or spouse when they get eliminated. So it really is in every way bigger and better.”

Finding an Exercise Ball

The first clip shows blindfolded contestants trying to find exercise balls to sit on. Jeong and Andrews are whispering as the last few contestants try to find one to sit on. There were only two players left. They felt their way through the other contestants, grabbing their hands and feeling the air around them.

Squat a Duck

The next game was Squat a Duck. Contestants had a rope tied around them with one dangling between their legs. That one had a hook on the end of it. The goal is to transport the three ducks from their station to the bowl of water in front of them using only the rope.

Balancing a Ball

The third game appeared to be trying to balance a pencil on a table. From there, they had to get a ball sitting on top of a bolt onto the pencil without it falling down.

Pass the Popcorn

For this game, the player in the front has a large bowl of popcorn sitting in front of them. They have to try to scoop as much as they can into their smaller bowl and pass it behind their head to the next player. The popcorn goes down the line until it gets to the last person. The last person in the line dumps it into the big container behind them. Whoever fills up the big container at the end first wins. The last team to fill it up is eliminated.
