Scott McGillivray is taking a trip down memory lane for one of his upcoming TV projects.
Earlier this summer, the Renovation Resort Showdown star revealed that he had “some incredible new series” in the works for HGTV. “We’ve got design, construction, transformation, real estate investing. It’s all coming your way,” he teased in a June 25 Instagram clip.
Last month, McGillivray announced that one of his new projects would be launching an open casting call. “So, if you own a property in the [Greater Toronto Area] and you’ve got space that’s not living up to its potential, then I want to hear from you. That’s right,” he shared in an August 6 Instagram post. “Whether it’s an unfinished basement, an underused garage, a laneway, an attic, or another overlooked opportunity, guess what? I’m gonna help you unlock its income potential and make your property work harder than ever. And you’re not sure where to start? Then I’m here for you.”
In a Wednesday, September 16, Instagram clip, McGillivray revealed that his lineup of new projects includes the return of his old HGTV series Income Property. “Hey! It’s Scott McGillivray, and I have some very exciting news for you. We are bringing Income Property back to HGTV,” he told fans. “And not only are we announcing the return of Income Property, but we are looking for folks who are interested in creating revenue, they wanna make an existing rental suite great, they wanna create a new rental property. This is your chance.”

The Rock the Block alum continued, “We are now casting for people in the Toronto area who are ready to put their property to work. That’s right, Income Property begins filming. So, think your home has what it takes? Apply now at IncomePropertycasting.ca.”
McGillivray made his HGTV hosting debut on Income Property, which ran for 11 seasons from 2008 to 2016. The series followed McGillivray as he helped homeowners transform portions of their properties into rentable spaces, using renovations to maximize the potential income.
Fans shared their excitement for the show’s return in the post’s comments, with one user writing, “Hooray! Can you believe it that I still watch the reruns from the original income? Property shows! Every Wednesday morning without fail. Thank heavens I’m retired and have the time to do that. Ha. Very happy for you Scott.”
Another said, “Hooray!!!! Now if they’d only bring back Vacation House Rules!” Someone else shared, “Doing my happy dance as I hear this great announcement!” A different person posted, “Great news!! Loved that show! Can’t wait!”
Per the casting call website, applicants must be over 18, live in the Greater Toronto Area, have a minimum budget of $50,000, and own the property they want renovated on the show. Filming will take place this fall through early next year.
Selected applicants will receive “expert design guidance and renovation expertise from Scott and his team,” “expert project management throughout the design and reno process from our in-house team,” and “an amazing experience you’ll never forget! Plus so much more,” per the casting call.
