HGTV’s Scott McGillivray Shares Rare Photo of 2 Daughters for Special Occasion

Scott McGillivray took a break from working on his new HGTV series to celebrate a special occasion with his kids.

The Renovation Resort Showdown star shares his two daughters, Myah and Layla, with his wife, Sabrina. Though McGillivray mainly uses social media to share updates on his latest projects, he posted a rare pic of his kids to mark their first day of the school year.

“Last year of middle school and first day of high school,” he captioned a Wednesday, September 9, Instagram post. “’Be polite to your teachers and tell them you appreciate them, be the first one to talk to any new kids and invite them to join you for lunch and hug all the friends you haven’t seen all summer.’ That’s my first day back to school pep talk.”

McGillivray concluded the caption by stating, “Hope everyone had a great first day back.” The post featured a sweet photo of Layla and Myah dressed in their school uniforms, holding signs celebrating their first days of eighth and ninth grade, respectively.

Fans sent their own well-wishes to McGillivray’s daughters in the post’s comments. “Oh wow!! They’re growing up so fast! Lovely young ladies!” one user wrote. Another added, “Those are kind words as pep talk! I like that!”

Someone else stated, “Beautiful girls!!! Good luck this year!!!!” A different person posted, “Beautiful girls and perfect advice!!!!” A separate commenter stated, “Omg we watch older episodes of your shows because how did they get so grown! Happy year ladies and blessings!”

The girls’ new school year comes as McGillivray works on new HGTV shows. “It’s Scott McGillivray here, and I have some exciting news. That’s right! I am coming home to HGTV,” he announced in a June 25 Instagram video. “I cannot be more excited. We have some incredible new series. We’ve got design, construction, transformation, real estate investing. It’s all coming your way.”

He continued, “So, stay tuned. More to come. I’m just so excited to be here on HGTV. We’ll see you soon!”

Last month, McGillivray took to Instagram again to announce an open casting call for one of his upcoming projects. “We have big news. Today, I am kicking off casting for an exciting new HGTV renovation series hosted by me,” he told his social media followers. “So, if you own a property in the [Greater Toronto Area] and you’ve got space that’s not living up to its potential, then I want to hear from you. That’s right.”

McGillivray added, “Whether it’s an unfinished basement, an underused garage, a laneway, an attic, or another overlooked opportunity, guess what? I’m gonna help you unlock its income potential and make your property work harder than ever. And you’re not sure where to start? Then I’m here for you.”
