‘General Hospital’ Casts Blythe Howard as Monet, a Lawyer With an ‘Unexpected Connection’

General Hospital is welcoming another new face, TV Insider can report exclusively. Blythe Howard will make her daytime debut on Wednesday, September 23 as Monet, a savvy lawyer.
Monet arrives in town as a litigator who recently joined Miller & Davis, the firm run by Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and meets with a Port Charles resident in need of legal counsel.
A native of Washington state, Howard originally envisioned a career in broadcast journalism. While attending Washington State University, she won a nationwide contest to appear as a VJ for a day on MTV’s Total Request Live. That experience changed the course of her life, prompting her to leave WSU to study acting in San Francisco. She eventually made the move to Los Angeles, where she booked her first commercial within a week of arriving.

Her television credits include Yellowstone, Power Book IV: Force, Walker, 9-1-1: Lone Star, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Dynasty and Silicon Valley. Her early interest in journalism came full circle when played a recurring news anchor in David Fincher‘s Mindhunter during its second season on Netflix in 2019.
In 2022, Howard’s life took another unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with cancer. She continued pursuing her acting career throughout treatment, balancing auditions, bookings, and time on set while navigating the challenges of cancer and chemotherapy.
Following her recovery, Howard and her sister, Kelsey Howard, cofounded Chemo Queens, a survivor-founded company that creates products for people undergoing cancer treatment, including a patent-pending cold cap design.
Howard’s GH casting marks the latest newcomer to join the Port Charles canvas in recent months. She joins Alimi Ballard (William Baines), Jonathan Bennett (Joe Fitzpatrick), Kearran Giovanni (Dr. Nichols), Dean Geyer (Tristan Roberts), Kelly Kruger (Serena Baldwin), Kayden Brennan Tokarski (Scout Cain) and Troy Lennon Appel (Hudson Parker).

Do we need more new characters? The storylines are getting long. Let’s just deal with the main story of getting Nia, Willow, Ava and Drew to jail. Put Anna in a hospital. And let chase find out about the real Willow.

As a Jordan fan, id love that! We dont even know her maiden name. In my fanfic Jordan Winters Ashford is the sis of Dr. Lainey Winters who I loved and miss. But I'll be happy with any fam for Jordan.

Welcome Blythe. However what’s going on with Carolyn Hennessy? Is she coming back to GH? Don’t mind this new comer joining the team but don’t want her replacing Diane. Still want Diane to be there! She’s a vital part of GH. Are we giving Alexis maybe the job of perhaps DA or judgeship? It would be great job for her to have. She needs to bigger better presence than she has now though. Please get Diane back on GH ASAP though. Maybe make Blythe related to Jordan or Portia.

More color on GH is always welcome and she is beautiful! But the show has a lot of new characters right now. And there are a handful I'd love to see back like Taggert, TJ, Nikolas, Lucky, and Dillon. Speaking of Taggert, Blythe has the perfect look to play his sis Gia who i think became a lawyer.
She'd also be a great Keesha, Faith or Maya Ward recast or a member of the Ravelle Hardy fam. But the show seems to have forgotten all about them along with all members of the Webber family: Elizabeth' siblings Drs. Steven & Sarah, dad Jeff, all her sons and Laura's adopted Webber bros Mike & Richard. Sometimes recasting characters from way back can add new blood and give organic story to their on screen family. Case-in-point the Wards and their Quartermaine fam who could use some more members anyway.

It's looking almost like GH is on life support and in order to compete with the Gates, GH is suddenly adding more black characters. That's great and all but GH already has some amazing black characters to draw from in their history. We don't need so many newbies, of any color. This almost feels like they're trying to draw people in just to compete with numbers.

Well, I'm not opposed to new characters & new storylines. This is what keeps things fresh, new & exciting. Just as long as we get through chance to get to know the characters & they get to stick around for a long time. Not this in & out thing. I'm was thinking she was going to be Chases' div lawyer but she (apparently) will be a litigator so... and speaking of Chase...not at all happy w/him. Am disappointed. He's just turned around on Brook Lynn seeking advice on leaving her & Phoebe??? Not right.

Hey we have a DEI President. Trump was never qualified to be President since never held a political office not even a mayor. Isn't White people's definition of a DEI hire someone who lacks the qualifications and merits to do a job and was only hired because of their race and gender? That makes Donald J Trump the most famous DEI hire Of All Times!!!!!

Here here! We whites have grown to use the term DEI very loosely, as in any time there's "too much" color somewhere. 😂
GH was the whitest soap on air from about 1998 - 2014. So imo there's no such thing as too much color on GH. Also they recently fired the 3 Latin characters (2 of whom, Natalia & AliBlaze weren't great ill admit) and all 2 of the recurring Asians Selina & Brad. So GH has a ways to go before they're paving the way for diversity in entertainment lol

GH is making up for 1998 - 2014 where you'd more likely see a unicorn have story than person of color. As long as story is good I say bring it! Lol
Also just bc they're hired doesnt mean they stay. GH made a casting anouncement re hiring Kody Kavitha & Virginia Ma a few years ago who turned out to be basically extras who disappeared shortly after. And Alimi Ballard and Kearran Giovanni who just got hired sound like side characters who won't be permanent. I love both actors but would rather see them & Blythe used to rebuild the Ward fam vs playing another random Dr, lawyer & WSB agent.
