Giovanni engaged with the craft of acting from a young age, enrolling in the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, and then in the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music. Giovanni's earliest professional work as an actor took part on the stage; after moving to New York in 2004, Giovanni nabbed Broadway roles including "Sweet Charity" (2005), "Tarzan" (2006-07), and "Guys and Dolls" (2009).
