What’s Worth Watching: The Originals Fight Back

The Originals, “Sanctuary” (Monday, Feb. 2, 8/7c, The CW)

The Mikaelson siblings, aka the Originals, know what they want, but how many will die to make their dreams come true? The Big Easy-set supernatural show’s strong sophomore season continues with an episode that rocks the bayou . We didn’t really think that control freak vampire/wolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) would let his baby mama Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) marry that cute Alpha wolf Jackson (Nathan Parsons) without a fight, did we? The mayhem starts with Klaus stalking the engaged couple into the swamp, where he confronts Jackson and the two not-quite humans go seriously mano a mano. As Klaus goes protective daddy, big brother Finn, now known as Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), completes his transformation into an uber-villain by using his growing warlock powers to take control of Klaus’s vamp allies Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Josh (Steven Krueger). As her brothers wreak havoc, their sister Rebekah’s (currently played by Maisie Richardson-Sellars) only goal is to escape — from both another woman’s body and the weird witch asylum in which she’s trapped. Help comes from perhaps the last person she’d expect. So pour yourself a Hurricane and enjoy the storm.
