What To Know

  • Maria Bartiromo, recently ousted from Fox News, is reportedly in talks with CBS News’ Bari Weiss.
  • Bartiromo wants to remain a ‘major player’ in the news industry and a spot on 60 Minutes is on the table.
  • Her departure from Fox News followed allegations of leaking internal documents.

Ex-Fox News host Maria Bartiromo may be headed to a new network after reportedly meeting with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.

According to Rob Shuter’s newsletter, Naughty But Nice, Bartiromo and Weiss have already discussed the possibility of working together, with a spot on 60 Minutes part of the conversation. “Maria and Bari have already spoken,” a television insider told Shuter. “Maria isn’t sitting around licking her wounds. She’s moving fast, and 60 Minutes is absolutely in the mix.”

Fox News announced Bartiromo’s departure from the network on September 3, saying in a statement, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

According to a report from Status, Bartiromo, who hosted three shows across Fox News and Fox Business, was accused of leaking an internal document to the White House. The correspondence reportedly related to the network’s decision to limit coverage of Donald Trump‘s primetime speech about the 2020 election, in which he claimed others, including China, had interfered in the 2020 election.

Days later, Bartiromo’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, denied she was fired. “The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said. “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.”

He added, “Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”

Shuter’s new report claims that Bartiromo wants to remain “a major player” in the news industry, which is why a move to Weiss’ CBS News is seen as a viable option.

“Maria brings something Bari understands is valuable: access,” the insider said, noting that she could reach “CEOs, billionaires, political power players and Wall Street titans.”

The source continued, “Maria believes she still belongs at the biggest table in television. There is no bigger table than 60 Minutes.”

Last week, it was speculated that Bartiromo could be a potential replacement for Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary. While Vice President JD Vance laughed off those rumors, President Trump has previously spoken highly of Bartiromo.

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business. Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior,” the president wrote on Truth Social. He added, “Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”

I think I will never watch any show that CBS airs.

I'll still watch some of the older ones, that were on CBS before this network-wrecker was handed the reins. Anything new, since she's been in charge?? No thanks!

True, she should have been quarantined over there.

She had the best Sunday morning shows on television.

Well, every day that goes by, FOX becomes joke news. Only a couple have kept a serious format, the rest is a comedy show. Every day I watch it less!

She would be fantastic as a business stock anchor on a financial channel like msnbc- or anyone who would have a great show like she had.—somewhere where she can be her brilliant self. Fox’s programming is getting worse and worse. We need less comedy- more financial analysis and business sense. She and Trace Gallagher were Fox’s best plus Lara Trump. The network will continue to lose its best subscribers with her loss.

How much lower can CBS go. What a joke.

No, no, no, no, no, no. Do not put her anywhere near 60 Minutes. That woman Weiss has already ruined the show enough without this type of sacrilege.
