President Donald Trump weighed in on the firing of Maria Bartiromo on Thursday evening (September 3), warning that Fox News viewers will “not be happy” with the network’s decision.
Hours after Fox News announced it was parting ways with Bartiromo after 12 and a half years, Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts. “I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business. Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior,” the president wrote.
He added, “Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”
Fox News confirmed Bartiromo’s abrupt exit on Thursday afternoon, saying in a statement, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”
The news came as a shock, as Bartiromo hosted three shows on the network, including the Fox Business programs Mornings With Maria and Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street and the weekend show Sunday Morning Futures. Those shows will now feature a rotating lineup of guest anchors.
While Fox News did not provide a reason for Bartiromo’s exit, the Status newsletter reported that the veteran journalist shared confidential internal guidance with the Trump White House. The outlet said that Bartiromo sent senior White House officials a screenshot of Fox Business directives instructing staffers not to give credence to Trump’s claims about the 2020 election and China following his July primetime speech.
According to Mediaite, this incident was the “final straw” in a “confluence of factors” behind Bartiromo’s firing. Other incidents included her reporting on so-called 2020 election fraud, which led to Fox’s $787.5 million Dominion Voting Systems settlement and the still-pending Smartmatic litigation.
The outlet also reported that Bartiromo had been isolated from her colleagues in recent weeks, with her staff instructed to go through management to communicate with her. In addition, Puck reported that Mornings With Maria executive producer Patrick Ignozzi was also let go on Thursday.
Fox News told Status that Bartiromo’s exit was a “business decision.”

Maria is a tremendous talent and a true professional. It’s okay when the lefty loons leak something but it’s not when rational people do it.
