‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Who Attended Tapings Share Big Change for Season 55
The price may be right, but the model count is not. A The Price Is Right fan who attended a taping of Season 55 shared a big change coming to the game show.
“One Model per episode,” a Reddit user said. “I don’t believe this has been discussed yet, but new for Season 55 it seems as if they are now down to one model per episode on camera. So each episode will have one model, Drew [Carey] and George [Gray].”
“That’s going to be a jarring change. Is it confirmed?” a fan asked.
“I mean, I attended tapings,” the original poster said.
“I did, too, and there was only 1 model for each taping I attended this summer,” another fan confirmed.
“I’ve been to 3 tapings this season; each one only had one model,” another fan wrote.
There are six models who rotate on the show. Typically, per episode, there are two to three who help out with the games and prizes. One of the females also typically gives the host his microphone at the beginning of the show.

Devin Goda, James O’Halloran, Manuela Arbeláez, and Amber Lancaster have all shared photos from set for this season. Rachel Reynolds and Alexis Gaube have yet to share if they are returning. They most likely are, but nothing has been confirmed.
Fans are reporting that Gray, the show’s announcer, has been helping with games. “It IS weird they have been using George. I mean I don’t mind it, but he’s the announcer,” one said.
Reports seem to be true, as seen in the photo above with Gray and Gaube showing off prizes on the upcoming Star Trek 60th Anniversary episode. That episode will air on September 8. A reason was not given for this change.
“Oh no! Don’t like that,” one fan said about only using one model.
“Hopefully this will not be the new normal,” another fan said, with a fingers-crossed emoji.
“There have been a handful of episodes like this, but there are certain games i feel like this would be hard for,” another commented.
“So if this change is confirmed, then it’d be hard for just one model to handle operations from pricing games that requires two models, like Switch? or Swap Meet. In such cases like this, I think George should fill in the second shoes, because he has been an acting model for years now,” one fan said.
“That’s crazy! But makes more sense now because I follow Amber on Instagram and she was posting about today being her first day back and said that they “switched up the schedule this season” so she’s going to be on her feet even more,” one last fan said.
It is not clear if this policy will also be in effect for the upcoming live episode, which is set to air near Christmas. A premiere date has not yet been set for Season 55. What do you think of the supposed change? Let us know in the comments.

Going to 1 model is a bad idea. Seeing the models is why a huge percentage of the viewers tune in. Please rethink this.

I thought it was pretty horrific when they cut down to two models per episode. The price is right is a cash cow for CBS. Come on, executives — bring back three models per show!

No way they should reduce to one model per show! If this turns out to be permanent, I think I'll find something else to watch.
Cutting the audience in half too?
Omg, CBS....I highly doubt your funds are running that low!

Bad idea. I like the 2 models. My husband says to. Get rid of Drew and let the models do it for less money than he gets

One model per show now? This is bad. Is CBS so cheap they need to cut the number of models? They do not make much. I bet its executives do not cut their bonuses. There used to be 3 then 2 now 1. Really! How about no models so you can save a few hundred dollars? How cheap can you be? Why do you tamper with success? Horrible!

I was so upset when my husband and I attended the taping in August for my birthday. James was the only model there. I was really hoping to see one of the lady models too. (I was hoping to see Rachel) Not a good move in my opinion.

Briefly, I’ll say I don’t like it! They might just cut down on the audience as well!!

I'm watching the new season and I'm not okay with one model per show. I'm also not okay with George stepping in because they actually need more than one model. You have the models use them let George stay with the announcing and occasional time when he would step in it was fine but for it to be something that's going to be a regular thing, not so much.

Just realized, this is another change by Billionaire Ellison and his dad to whittle down to cheap, mind numbing reality shows!

Not only has the model count and the audience count gone down, but the prizes went down also! Look a lot cheaper!

Cutting down to only one model per episode? Bad idea. Also cutting the audience down also? They help dive the show an a good atmosphere. There's other ways to cut cost. They are cutting cost which are going to hurt the show. I'm thinking about just watching the reruns on Price Is Right channels.

How about a special Halloween episode with a Phantom of the Opera themed set where the Phantom of the Losing Trombone is on the loose in the studio? What about a Wizard of Oz themed set, where Drew Carey stars as The Tin Man, Alexis Gaube starring as Dorothy, Rachel Reynolds as the fairy godmother, Manuela Arbelaez as The Wicked Witch of the West, etc.?

Halloween 2010 already did wizard of oz
