‘House Shock’ Hosted by Arielle Vandenberg Is Coming to HGTV — Everything We Know

Get ready for the shock of your life! HGTV‘s new show, House Shock, is being hosted by Arielle Vandenberg, and contestants are in for a big shock.

The show was announced on August 26 in an HGTV press release. “Everyone loves surprises, right? But what about a surprise renovation?” Vandenberg said in the release. “We sneak in, race against the clock, try not to get caught, and find out if the surprise pays off.”

Who hosts House Shock?

Arielle Vandenberg, who was the original host of Love Island USA and is a model and actress, will act as the host and designer. She will team up with Battle on the Beach winner Steve Lewis to pull off surprise overhauls of spaces the customers have dreamed of updating, whether they neglected, abandoned, or just plain despised.

What is House Shock about?

House Shock sees sneaky loved ones nominating unsuspecting homeowners for secret room makeovers. In the one-hour episodes, Vandenberg will request design inspiration from the nominating family member and track down the perfect pieces on the fly, while Lewis and his construction team will ensure the renovations stay on track and on time.

With only days to complete the remodel, the duo will recruit neighbors, friends, and coworkers for elaborate cover stories and clever distractions to keep the homeowner in the dark. At the reveal, the recipient will find out what was happening right under their nose and get the ultimate house shock from the stunning transformation.

Throughout the series, the hosts will go undercover to renovate home offices, primary bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and three-season spaces. As the time ticks down to the final reveals, Vandenberg and Lewis will dodge security cameras and navigate unforeseen challenges, including inclement weather, delivery delays, and hidden issues behind the walls.

“We only have a few days to get the work done, so we have to be quick, clean, and quiet, which is hard to do on a construction site,” Lewis said in the release. “But it’s worth it in the end to give these homeowners the renovation surprise of a lifetime.”

The all-new series premieres Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 9pm on HGTV.
