‘Will Trent’ Star Kevin Daniels Reveals Key Details About Season 5 Premiere as Production Begins

As author Karin Slaughter recently revealed, production is now kicking off on Will Trent Season 5 in Atlanta, and thanks to one cast member’s behind-the-scenes snaps from the process, we now know some very big details about what’s ahead in the premiere.

Kevin Daniels, who first became a series regular in Season 4 for his role as Franklin Wilks, shared a shot of himself heading back to work on Instagram, along with a photo of his welcome package and the cover of the script for Season 5 Episode 1.

In the latter image, we can see that the premiere will (tentatively, at least) be titled, “Wouldn’t Want to Take My Work Home.” It is cowritten by coshowrunner Karine Rosenthal along with writer Inda Craig-Galvin, and the episode will be directed by the one and only Ramón Rodríguez.

Daniels captured the snap series, which also included a selfie in his trailer, with, “First day of school!”

ABC renewed Will Trent for a fifth season on April 13, a few weeks before the Season 4 premiere aired.

Daniels was one of the stars on hand — alongside Erika Christensen and Iantha Richardson — to represent Will Trent at Disney and ABC’s Upfront presentation event the next month, and on the red carpet, the actor told TV Insider of his hopes for Season 5, including his desire to find out more about Franklin’s personal life.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the heartbreaking finale, executive producer Liz Heldens told TV Insider that, after the shocking death of both Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) and Dr. Seth (Scott Foley) in Season 4, she hopes to see Angie continue to embrace “the experience and maturity she gained from being in a relationship that was functioning,” while Rosenthal added that fans might get to see more of Angie and Will together as coparents of her baby daughter, Edie.
