It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s 18th season has just kicked off, but the question looms: will the series return for Season 19 at FXX?

As fans of the hit may recall, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was renewed for Seasons 16, 17, and 18 back in December 2020, not long after FX had ordered Season 15 that previous summer. Nearly six years later, we can’t help but wonder what’s in store for the show’s future. So, we’re breaking down everything we know about the comedy’s potential for future episodes. Scroll down for a closer look and let us know if you’d like to see the series continue in the comments section.

It’s unclear how long FXX would continue to carry the series on, but after so many years on air and its ongoing popularity, we’d anticipate the network and creatives behind the show to come to an agreement or understanding over an endpoint. Whether that’s Season 19 or not would remain to be seen.

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, star Danny DeVito addressed the possibility of the show ending as he said, “As long as we have a good ending — I don’t know what the ending could be, they probably have one already figured out in their head. It would be hard to let go, but if it’s right and the audience is happy with it, then I think it’s a good thing to do.”

While It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia hasn’t been renewed for Season 19 yet, we’d expect whatever season serves as the show’s last would be announced as such. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Season 18 isn’t the end of the road yet, as FX didn’t announce it as the end of the series. Additionally, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has broken records, becoming the longest-running live-action comedy series, surpassing the previous record holder, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.

Who would star in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 19?

We’d expect the gang to return, including Glenn Howerton as Dennis, Rob McElhenney as Mac, Charlie Day as Charlie, Kaitlin Olson as Dee, and Danny DeVito as Frank, with additional favorites popping up here and there.

What would It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 19 be about?

While we wait for a Season 19 renewal, we’d anticipate It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to continue chronicling the day-to-day experiences of the gang from Paddy’s Pub.
