Of the recurring baddies that the officers of The Rookie have to deal with when the series returns for Season 9 in 2027, serial killer Liam Glasser (Seth Gabel) is, admittedly, not at the top of the list. After all, it was international crime boss Heath Everett (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) who orchestrated the abductions of Tim (Eric Winter) and Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) — right after they finally got engaged!
However, Liam should be behind bars but is instead free, thanks to Novak (Noel Fisher) confessing to his crimes, using details that hadn’t been released to the public. Furthermore, the LAPD even ended up having to protect the killer when a family member of one of his victims came after him, all while he fought his ex-wife for custody of their kids in court.
The plan is to bring him back, showrunner Alexi Hawley told TV Insider at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

“He’s such a great actor, and so we’re dying to get him back. I think, ultimately, in my mind, he’s laying a little low at first. Our hands are a little tied because he won against us, so we can’t be overt in anything we do to keep an eye on him, but he’ll definitely be back,” he said. “I just haven’t quite landed how I want to do it yet.”
When we spoke with Hawley after the Season 8 finale, he called Glasser “a ticking bomb.” Everyone wants him taken care of, especially Nyla (Mekia Cox), whose words to the killer were used against her and by his lawyer, Malcolm (Sean Patrick Thomas).
She’s not doing “well” with Glasser still out there, Cox previously told us. “She’s also had to deal with this litigation with the lawyers and she’s trying to figure out — she’s also had to deal with the fact that she got demoted for a little while and that was hard for her and so he’s causing a lot of roughness in her life that she wasn’t expecting and so I think she’s at this point where she’s like, ‘I would like him behind bars forever.’”

Nope. Don’t like him. Don’t want to see him. Get some fresh plots and stop rehashing old ones. Getting boring

No I hate characters that seem undefeatable . Same was true of the red headed lawyer . Yes she dies but was always able to win in court because of who she was . The are probably going to replace her with the African American lawyer who worked for the serial killer and make him the badly lawyer no one can stand up to

No! I don't want him back! I want his character to be put in bars forever immediately. I hate Glasser as much as I hate Monica!

Yes I would love to see Liam back of course with more killing to make it a little exciting. I love Nyla she is my favorite person on the show and Smity 😆 he on the force but his job is quite easy and funny.

No, the storyline is no longer enjoyable. Yes, we get it, he’s undefeatable. Yes, we get it, he’s always going to be one step ahead of the police. Yes, we get it, he’s evil incarnate. Yes, we get it, everyone wants him dead. Etc., etc., etc…. It’s sort of getting to be the same thing with Wesley’s ex Fiancee & how they keep bringing her back.
I realize these writers think they have this great storyline & they want to get as much mileage out of it as they can. But for the majority of viewers it just gets old & boring. Personally, one of the things I enjoy most about the show is the comedy, the love, the goodness of people. These Officers unselfishly give up so much to do what’s right, to protect people. I especially like they don’t lose their moral compass & they follow the law to the letter. There are times when I find myself thinking, well the person really didn’t mean to hurt somebody, or they had a reason to do what was wrong, can’t you just let them get away with it… But this show reminds me why our young people are so screwed up these days. They are not made to understand the consequences of their actions whether they had a good reason or not!
So please, good actor or not. Kill him off in a plane crash when he was trying to get away or something like that. And let that give everyone peace.
The writers need to remember they were good enough to come up with 8 years of great episodes (& please don’t let this be the final year). I have faith they can continue to do so!
