‘General Hospital’ Alum Kelly Monaco Shares Rare Update After ‘Unforgettable’ Trip

Kelly Monaco is having some memorable experiences off-screen. The General Hospital favorite gave a rare glimpse into her personal life in a new update. She recently took a trip with her family to a place very near and dear to her heart.
“A day that could only happen in Philly,” Monaco’s Instagram post began. The actress traveled to Philadelphia to spend the day at the Philadelphia Eagles training camp. She got to meet Jalen Hurts, Cooper DeJean, Cameron Latu, Landon Dickerson, and also actor Scot Teller from I Play Rocky. She then wrapped up the day “cheering on the @phillies.”
She added, “The best part? Sharing it all with @kellysmom1, my nephew @_kalebb, and one of my closest friends @daveophilly. 20+ years of friendship, two Philly kids, and somehow Dave always finds a way to make every visit home unforgettable. Go Birds. Go Phils. Philly, you never disappoint. #FlyEaglesFly #RingTheBell #PhillyPride.”
Monaco is a Philadelphia native, so she was thrilled to get the opportunity to hang with the Eagles alongside her family. The 50-year-old and her mom proudly posed with Eagles players on the field. She was also able to snap a photo of the Eagles quarterback. Monaco shared videos from the Philadelphia Phillies game and showed off her hand as she tried on one of the team’s World Series rings. Kristen Alderson, her former GH costar, commented, “My fellow Eagles sis lookin [fire emoji].”

Back in May, Monaco returned to Instagram after a one-year hiatus. “Today I turned 50!” Monaco wrote on Instagram. “There’s no place like home… coach @__monaco getting me back in shape.”
The soap star has kept a low profile ever since leaving General Hospital in 2024, after 20 years playing Sam McCall. Her beloved character was killed off the ABC soap in 2024. “Still doesn’t make any sense to me,” she captioned a photo from set. Prior to her Instagram return, she made a rare public appearance on Dancing with the Stars in November 2025.

I don't know who the writers are but changing characters all the time it's not good especially for the ratings the proof is in the Emmys and the new soap beyond the gates is getting a lot of awards and nominations so I guess they don't care about getting Emmys anymore because they keep getting rid of all the good people Sam McCall, Ethan Lovett that new guy stinks, so maybe they should get rid of the writers instead of getting rid of an actors

I loved Sam’s character sweet but strong. I really enjoyed when she and Steve Burt(Jason) use to ride off on the motorcycle. Maybe some day they will find her remains and bring her back. Lol

I miss SAM so very much. She was my fav. Character. I loved her with Jason and when she was with Dante. I have. To admit I missed her with Ja a on more. I felt that was the love of her life and her soulmate. Now Jason has left the mob. I wished the character lived to see it and be with him. My opinion

No comments, suggest to me that nobody really cares, what Kelley is doing. I only read to see how she was griping how she was ended on GH. She has never accepted the fact, they killed her off. Let's hope she's not resurrected from the grave.

She was the best match Jason ever had on the show. She matched his personality so much better than anyone else they have put him with. They had a ton of chemistry together. Until they decided to to put her with Dante that was an awful coupling and boring to boot. I really don’t like the chemistry he has had with all the women since Sam and now that they have change Jason the show is going to be very boring now that Jason and Sonny are giving up the life. Now it will be boring like all the other soaps on tv. They have had awful writes for a while and I agree with another that said get rid of the writers the show is going down hill and stop getting rid of all your main stream actors.

I don't know how they bring her back, it gets silly to continually bring back dead people. However, I do have to say as a regular viewer of General Hospital for 46 years, it was one of the worst moves made by the show producers in killing her character Sam off, never made any sense to me and I would say most fans.

I haven't watched GH since she was kicked off. The story line is so boring, characters aren't believable anymore. Sorry, GH. Get her back, and get new writers!
