Ride or Die‘s debut season may be over, but we’re far from ready to be done with secret assassin Judith (Hannah Waddingham) and her bestie Debbie (Octavia Spencer) after that finale cliffhanger, which put them in the crosshairs of the Director (Bill Nighy) and other agency powers. Warning: Spoilers for Ride or Die Season 1 ahead!
After managing to evade vindictive former colleague Ana (Sylvia Hoeks), Judith returned to England and had her status changed to inactive, leaving room for her to leave the agency and make room for a new adventure with her best friend Debbie. But with plenty of loose threads, we can’t help but wonder if there’s a plan for what’s to come next if Prime Video renews the hit series.
“We’ve thought of some big ideas, some big fun pieces, and I think when you’ve done trains and car chases and seen that bit of Europe, then you’re like, ‘OK, now where in the world can we go?’ because we want it to always feel like a big adventure,” series creator Tessa Coates told TV Insider on the red carpet at the series premiere in New York City.

Coates revealed that if Prime Video were to greenlight additional episodes, “each season should be its own fun, totally new chapter, new bad guys, new everything.” In other words, some new conflicts could be on the horizon. “We’ve got some exciting ideas,” she said.
Showrunner Matt Miller echoed Coates’ sentiments on the red carpet. “There is a roadmap. I’m not supposed to give away too much… but we were working on it,” he teased, adding, “We’ve been working actively for a while, beating out the story, where the characters go in Season 2. We’ve got a really great game plan.” The only puzzle piece left is to get the approval from the streamer.
Among some of the loose threads that could be explored more is the revelation about Queenie (Savannah Steyn) being the Director’s biological daughter. She was being shown around the agency as she joined the assassin ranks. “We definitely are very excited about Queenie,” Coates confessed. “We’re very excited about what that looks like if she works at the agency. Does she become a kickass assassin, like what’s gonna happen to her?”
And Miller noted that Nighy’s return is something they’re all hoping for if Season 2 gets ordered: “We would love for Mr. Nighy to return to the show in Season 2. That is the game plan, and he was an absolute delight to work with, incredible at the performance.” The Director’s more nefarious side was exposed in the final episodes as his tactic for adopting orphaned children and grooming them into assassins was uncovered.

If you haven’t watched it yet, give it a chance—you’ll quickly understand why so many viewers are hoping for Season 2. Here’s hoping the network recognizes what they have and brings Die or Ride back for another season. It absolutely deserves it.
