Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira ended Season 2 of Castle Impossible with a special announcement.
The HGTV home renovation series returned for its second season on May 26. The series follows Daphne and Ian, a.k.a. The Figs, as they transform the 500-year-old chateau Daphne inherited from her grandfather in France. During the show’s June 2 episode, the couple surprised their contractor, Tony, and Daphne’s grandmother with news that they are expecting their first child.
“That’s so good. Congratulations! I’m so pleased for you,” Tony gushed, while Daphne’s grandmother stated, “It’s going to be great with the baby. I’m glad that I’ll get to rock this little boy, or this little girl.”
The Tuesday, July 14, season finale picked up with Daphne and Ian seven weeks before the baby’s due date. In addition to working on their new living space in the Hunter’s Lodge, Ian surprised Daphne by transforming the Dove Tower’s spa into a relaxation space.
At the end of the episode, the couple gathered with Tony, Daphne’s grandmother, and their family friend Jean-Marie to celebrate their latest renovations to the chateau. While standing outside the home, Daphne stated, “We’d love to tell you guys whether or not we’re having a boy or a girl.”

The house was then lit up in blue light, revealing that the couple is expecting a baby boy. “Hear that, little buddy? Chatueau’s blue for you,” Ian said at the end of the episode.
Fans reacted to the baby’s sex reveal via social media. “The prince of Fig will soon arrive to the castle! Congrats!!” one user commented underneath a clip of the moment shared on HGTV’s Instagram page. Another added, “We need a next season to watch little Fig grow. Love seeing this family grow with their amazing chateau.”
Someone else shared, “Congratulations and I hope we get to see the new addition in the next season. @hgtv make that happen.” A different person posted, “I hope he’s going to be silly like his papa and I hope he’ll be handsome like his beautiful mama. Congratulations Baby Fig!!!” A separate commenter stated, “This is the coolest ever. I am so excited for all of you. Please don’t ever stop sharing your beautiful château with us.”
Daphne and Ian have not publicly revealed whether they have welcomed their son. In an interview with TV Insider last month, Daphne revealed that she was at the seven-month mark in her pregnancy.
“It’s very exciting. Although Facebook is circulating a post we had twins. So I don’t know about that,” she said with a laugh. “Not twins.”
They also opened up about how they will balance their work on the chateau with their role as parents. “We’re going to have to take turns and be navigating all this because the chateau is far from finished. There is still a lot of renovating to do. There is also the wedding venue business we’re actively running,” Ian told Swooon, while Daphne added, “We’ve made it so we’ll have a couple of weeks to really be with the baby. Then we have friends and family coming to visit to help support us.”
