Fox News’ Laura Ingraham Has Meltdown Over CNBC’s ‘Worst States to Live In’ List
What To Know
- Fox News host Laura Ingraham criticized CNBC’s “Worst States to Live In” list, claiming it unfairly targets Republican-led states.
- Tennessee topped the list, which also included Texas, Indiana, Georgia, and Arkansas.
- Ingraham argued that these states are popular destinations for business.
Laura Ingraham aired her frustration with CNBC’s quality-of-life list on Tuesday’s (July 14) edition of The Ingraham Angle, calling it a “blatant effort to denigrate more conservative states.”
The Fox News anchor began by highlighting another poll from ChiefExecutive.net, which surveyed 650 CEOs to determine which states are the most business-friendly.
“Six hundred fifty CEOs were polled, and they rated the best states in which to do business,” Ingraham said, per Mediaite. “The top 10, including Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, are Republican. They are run by Republicans, except Virginia, which is at number 10, and North Carolina, kind of a purple state, at number five.”
She continued, “So, money and people, resources, are pouring into red states. How do the socialists brush this off? Well, they do so either by ignoring it or distorting the data, or [with] a little help from their friends.”
One of the aforementioned “friends,” according to Ingraham, includes CNBC, though the business channel is hardly known for touting socialist values. CNBC released a report titled “These are America’s 10 worst states to live in for 2026,” which took into account crime rates, air quality, healthcare, workers’ rights, and civil rights.
Tennessee came out on top, followed by Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, Georgia, Utah, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. All ten states, except for Georgia in 2020, voted for Donald Trump in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections.
“This CNBC report just came out,” Ingraham stated. “They listed the ten worst states to live in for 2026. All the states on this list, okay, Trump won. Every state except Georgia in 2020. And the list included four of the top 10 states for business. How does that make any sense?!”
She added, “They have kind of a weird calculus there, but this is obviously a blatant effort to denigrate more conservative states. But it’s really nothing new.”
Other Republican figures agreed with Ingraham, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who wrote on X, “If Tennessee was really the worst state to live in, people wouldn’t be moving there in large numbers, which they are. Typical nonsense.”
Texas Representative Brandon Gill shared similar sentiments, writing, “If Texas was so bad, people wouldn’t be fleeing blue states in droves to move here.”
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom‘s press office used the opportunity to needle Republicans. “Notice something in common? All led by Republicans—many suffering from California Derangement Syndrome,” the account posted.

Where is the lie? I live in a red state because of family and not by choice. It’s morbid but as soon as Mom goes to the white gates in the sky, we’re going back to a blue state. There is no work here at all unless it’s less than or right at minimum wage and let’s have a real conversation about that—no one can live on minimum wage. Even if you cut out every “fun” part of living, the cost of food, gas, medical, and on and on makes it impossible. That should not happen in the “greatest country on earth.” Not to mention these people scream about socialism and communism and have zero clue what they actually mean. Look at who is strong arming businesses to bend to what he wants…government gas stations, government involved in media purchases, government seeking bribes, uh, THAT is communism, and it’s not a D that’s doing it. Read an actual sourced book about what communism and socialism is (hint, America has socialist principles by using tax dollars to pay for fire, police, libraries, government salaries, government healthcare, etc.). Education in this country is horrible.

Of course CEO's rank low tax states the highest. How many actually live in the state their company has a presence in? If they do, they send their children to private schools and have the best cared for communities,

Well, when your state keeps taking AWAY services and rolls BACK regulations that PROTECT its citizens, your state DESERVES to get on the list of worst states to live.

I love how people like Ingraham think lists like that are some kind of "attack" on conservatives/the Republican Party. No, your party and your stances just genuinely suck, and the evidence bears that out. But we know facts don't matter to people like Ingraham, so...
The right wanted their party to control all three branches of government, and they got it. They don't get to complain when their party and its policies get all the scrutiny as a result.
