Jimmy Kimmel might be on summer hiatus from this ABC late-night talk show, but that hasn’t stopped him from poking fun at political figures.
On Sunday (July 12), the late-night host took to Instagram to share a mock photo from a hospital bed. “For those who’ve been asking, I’m feeling great,” he captioned the pic, parodying the recent “proof of life” imaged shared by Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky).
Earlier that day, McConnell’s team sent an email update to his constituents in Kentucky that included news of his health. The update included a photo of McConnell sitting upright in a hospital bed with his wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, by his side. He also appeared to be holding a copy of Sunday’s Washington Post newspaper.
McConnell stated that he suffered a fall and later developed a case of mild pneumonia. “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion,” he wrote. “I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital.”

“As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet,” he added. “But rest assured that, in the meantime, I’m not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you.”
The statement and photo came amid mounting pressure on McConnell’s team to provide an update on the senator’s health. Since he was hospitalized on June 14, theories began to spread that McConnell was in critical condition, with some even speculating he may have died.

In Kimmel’s parody photo, he superimposed his own head onto McConnell’s, while Chao remains by his side, smiling at the camera.
Fans jumped into the comments to share their reactions to Kimmel’s post, with one Instagram user writing, “Omg you are the best we love you, Jimmy.”
“Jimmy is the BEST! So Clever and Smart,” said another.
“Snorted laughing at this,” another added.
Another wrote, “This wins the internet today!! Thanks for the belly laugh and howling I just did.”

Kimmel signed off for his latest break on June 18, and guest hosts will emcee his show in his absence. Tiffany Haddish kicked off the guest-hosting last week, while Ike Barinholtz will take over this week. Kimmel is set to return after Labor Day.

I’m glad you feel that way. There should be some limits Not imposed. But out of just pure moral decency. I say some very crude things about Democrats in particular the Far left side. But I have limits. Another human being’s suffering is not funny at all to me. Only by the grace of God are we not in that person’s shoes ! Biden has cancer. That’s not the least bit humorous to me ! And I 🙏 he conquers it and goes into full remission. At a bare minimum we should consider What if that were Me and My family ? I know Kimmel has tons of followers but he doesn’t seem to have a To Low limit. He tried to make humor out of Charlie Kirk’s assassination which to me is depraved and sickening. I don’t expect everyone to Like me, and I’m not off limits to insults and crude remarks being thrown at me. But fundamental human civility should be instituted by us all. No it’s not mandated. But it should just be part of being a Civil American. I throw out insults and crude remarks but I have limits.

I’ve always worn button down shorts and jeans in every hospital stay I’ve ever had. And while I was in, I always had my face and neck smoothed out. I mean why not?

Mock on Jimmy. Some day You might have serious medical issues. Though I’m not a big fan of Mitch as he’s been far too wishy washy in recent years. Many times more like a RINO than a staunch conservative. I’m not gonna mock his health. Trashy low class people mock about people being assassinated and people’s serious medical issues. We’re ALL gonna pass away some day. Then meet our Creator. So for now in your naive youth you think you’re exempt. But Time stops for no one. And that surely includes you. And when your gone the world won’t stop spinning. It’ll keep on going until GOD says it’s time. People that love you will grieve many for only a relatively short amount of time. Only your closest family and friends will continue to grieve. You dearly love trying to shame and humiliate people and call it “humor”. Many of your fans love it more that good biscuits and gravy. And you feed them eagerly. But One Day you will stand in heavenly judgement as we ALL shall and that surely includes Me. And will give an account. So eat, drink, mock, laugh for Now. But as with All of us your clock is ticking. To be Very Clear this is NOT a threat from Me ! Just the Fact that for All of us no matter the age we are at the time, death is inevitable.
