Last year, Hulu’s King of the Hill made its long-awaited return with Season 14, reuniting viewers with Hank (Mike Judge) and Peggy Hill (Kathy Najimy) in Arlen, Texas, along with their now-adult son, Bobby (Pamela Adlon), and their longtime friends and neighbors from Rainey Street, Dale (Toby Huss), Boomhauer (Judge), Bill (Stephen Root), and Kahn (Ronny Chieng). Now, the series is returning for a second season as a Hulu exclusive (but Season 15 over all) on Monday, July 20.

So where did the most recent season leave things?

Well, after getting acquainted with the Texans, who returned after spending a spell in Saudi Arabia building up their nest egg, Hank and Peggy found themselves readjusting to life in Texas after being away during a period of massive cultural evolution, as well as missing Bobby grow from a teen to a man. Needless to say, the Hills had a lot of catching up to do. Here’s a refresher of what happened!

What happened to Hank and Peggy?

By the end of Season 14, Hank retired after completing his work on an Aramco base in Saudi Arabia and returned home with Peggy to Arlen, Texas, where the couple began settling back into a hometown that had changed considerably during their years away. As they adjusted to modern life, they reconnected with their now-adult son, Bobby, who had built a career as a chef in Dallas, while navigating everything from a disastrous feral pig eradication investment scheme to learning how to get a good rating on a gig-work app.

In the season finale, “A Sounder Investment,” Hank’s trademark cautious nature once again proved to be his greatest strength. After their friends wanted to invest in a new business venture centered on feral pig eradication, Hank remained skeptical of a high-risk stock that promised quick returns. Although he eventually panicked and bought in at the last minute, his repeated warnings rubbed off on Peggy. She sold their shares just before the company’s value collapsed, protecting their retirement savings and proving that Hank’s practical instincts had paid off once again.

What happened to Bobby?

Bobby, now in his twenties, stayed in Arlen and is currently working as a chef in a local German-Asian fusion restaurant and rekindled his relationship with childhood friend and crush, Connie (Lauren Tom).

In the finale, Bobby was busy catering Boomhauer’s pig eradication business while trying to rekindle his romance with Connie. The pair struggled to connect on a romantic level, and Bobby realized they had a “connection problem” because they’d both fundamentally changed as adults. Rather than trying to recapture the past, they committed to building a new relationship based on who they are now. Despite the growing pains, the finale ended with Bobby and Connie closer than ever.

How about the rest of the Rainey Street gang?

  • Dale (Toby Huss) – Dale Gribble was still a conspiracy theorist and was once (briefly) the mayor of Arlen. By the end of the season, he had a failed feral pig exterminating business under his belt, and his wife was still sleeping with John Redcorn (Jonathan Joss).
  • Bill (Stephen Root) – Bill Dauterive lost all the weight he gained for being bedridden during the pandemic but was still incredibly lonely.
  • Boomhauer (Mike Judge) – The mumbling ladies’ man unexpectedly settled down. John Boomhauer got a girlfriend and was helping take care of her young son, Luke Jr.
  • Khan & Minh (Ronny Chieng and Lauren Tom) – The Souphanousinphones divorced after years of high-stress living, with Khan secretly crashing in his own garage. When the news was accidentally made public during their 30th-anniversary party, an embarrassed Kahn ended up packing his belongings.
