What To Know

  • “Hitting all the right notes” takes on a hot new meaning in this exclusive Vampire Lestat clip.
  • Lestat’s epic recording session is crashed by ghosts from the past.

Tupac. Biggie. Elvis. Lestat?

The list of late musicians who may or may not be dead goes on, and this week, our Brat Prince, leather-panted purveyor of The Failures and literal mama’s boy is ready to join that list in The Vampire Lestat‘s fifth (grandly fateful) episode, “New York.” So, start spreading the news.

With the world, or at least the part that cares about a mid-level rocker who still can’t fill arenas, thinking that Lestat (Sam Reid) has left the building after last week’s assassination attempt at the hands of what he calls “a deranged Wegman’s produce manager,” the immortal showman is now free to get back to the business of music. As the hour opens to the crackle of Album 41, Side B, he rattles off his litany of past coffin-acious accommodations, citing his favorite as the “7000-square-foot model I endured in the fall of 2025 while I recorded his posthumously produced” opus, The Failures.

Admitting that he left this soundproofed tomb only once during that period, we get to see what he means in TV Insider’s exclusive clip from the Sunday, July 5, episode. With visions of his past loves Nicki (Joseph Potter) and Louis (Jacob Anderson) lurking about the recording studio, Fang Sinatra takes a break from terrorizing the band with take after take after take to step up to the mic himself.

But laying down his Armand-targeted diss track “Big Boss” proves way harder than just laying down with Armand (Assad Zaman), so what’s a sun-averse vocalist to do when he needs to hit a note higher than Daniel Malloy (Eric Bogosian) was back in the ’70s? Step outside and let the ol’ UV push ya just past Middle C.

The moment is a welcome blast of comedy that, trust us, does not set the tone for the rest of the episode. Big stuff goes down (and at one point, up) in this one, and you can feel the wheels on the emotional tour bus beginning to pick up speed. To say any more would be tacky, but suffice it to say we get a royally twisted flashback, a last-minute twist, and a gutting get-together that, mark my words, results in the most beautiful and important song of the season.
