‘Lex’: What to Know About Dylan O’Brien’s Return to TV
Almost 10 years after he signed off from regular roles on TV with the finale of Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien may be making a comeback to the small screen. The actor is poised to star in the pilot for Lex, a new comedy series at Hulu. If it’s picked up, it’ll mark the first time O’Brien has headlined a show since the supernatural drama ended.
Here are all the details about Lex.
What is Lex about?
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the potential series would center on O’Brien as the title character, Lex. Lex is a former reality star who’s been disgraced and accidentally films a murder in the backdrop of a Cameo video. “Using the skills he acquired navigating reality TV’s toxic social dynamics, Lex must fight to not get killed, to expose the truth, and most importantly… to get back on TV,” the description reads.
Who will star in Lex?
Apart from O’Brien, no other cast names have yet been attached to the pilot. What we do know, though, is that O’Brien is set to both star in and executive produce the pilot for Hulu. Sean Clements, who also writes the pilot, will also executive produce alongside Paul Simms.
What else is there to know about Lex at this time?
The pilot was first ordered back in March, and O’Brien’s casting news came down in late June. It is one of several pilots given the green light by the streamer. Others include Durango, which has cast Cooper Hoffman and Kathryn Newton and comes from Y: The Last Man‘s Eliza Clark, and Foster Dade, a drama from Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran.
What happened to Dylan O’Brien after Teen Wolf?
Following his six-year stint on Teen Wolf, O’Brien completed his franchise trilogy The Maze Runner, although a near-fatal on-set accident halted production halfway through the final film, Maze Runner: The Death Cure. He later continued to mostly work on films, such as Love and Monsters, Saturday Night, Caddo Lake, and, most recently, Send Help.
