Why Is ‘AGT’ Not New on June 30? Special Episode, Explained

America’s Got Talent‘s 21st season is currently airing on NBC, but don’t be shocked when there’s no new Auditions episode on June 30. Instead of Episode 5 airing ahead of the July 4 holiday, there will be a special “July 4th Party in the USA” celebration from 8/7 to 10/9c on Tuesday.

Per the episode’s logline: “It’s a quarter millennium celebration! The judges and Terry [Crews] look back at their favorite acts from America’s biggest talent show, complete with a festive 4th of July theme. It’s an evening fit for the USA’s 250th anniversary.”

Viewers will get to relive some iconic past acts, including Mat Franco, Darci Lynne, and more. Then, on July 7, the regularly-scheduled programming will pick back up again with Night 5 of Auditions, followed by Night 6 on July 14.

This season’s judges are Howie Mandel, Mel B., Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell. Each of them, along with Crews, have two Golden Buzzers to use this season, which means they can select two acts from the Auditions to automatically move forward to the Live Shows. The others who get voted through the Auditions still have to make it past the judges’ deliberation and new Judges’ Callback Round before performing in the Live Shows.

Mel B., Cowell, and Mandel have already used both of their Golden Buzzers, which means there are two left in play for the remaining two Auditions episodes.

NBC recently revealed its fall lineup, which confirmed that the AGT  Season 21 finale is on Wednesday, September 23. When the Live Shows begin, the performances will air on Tuesday nights and the results shows will air on Wednesday nights, so the two-part finale begins on September 22 and the winner will be revealed on September 23.
