‘Roast My Rental’ Sneak Peek: Leslie Jones Visits ‘Creepiest’ House She’s Ever Seen

Leslie Jones isn’t holding back her honest thoughts on some of the country’s most unique homes.

The Saturday Night Live alum is making her HGTV debut as the host of the new series Roast My Rental, which premieres on Friday, July 24. As the show’s title suggests, the series will follow Jones as she tours some of America’s worst short-term vacation rentals. After Jones shares her hilarious takes, HGTV’s Jasmine Roth and her team will give the rentals new life with a stylish 72-hour makeover.

“Leslie Jones here! I’m teaming up with Jasmine Roth. We’re going from ‘stay out’ to ‘stay here,’” Jones states in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the new series. “It’s a vacation rental intervention.”

Upon arriving at one of this season’s houses, Jones is tasked with retrieving the home’s key from a wooden bear carving. However, the key’s location on the statue is anything but ideal. “Ugh, lord. And making me pull it out the butt and everything. That’s diabolical,” she quips before asking the bear, “Do you know a dude named Smokey? I think y’all would like each other.”

Spotting the entryway’s open-backed stairs, Jones jokes, “I’m hoping that I don’t fall through these stairs like a cartoon.” As the floors creak on her way to the door, she says the sound is similar to “my knees when I wake up.”

At first glance, the rental appears to be a cozy log cabin. It’s not until Jones takes a closer look at some of the home’s details that she realizes why former guests have called the house “scary.” One such detail is stains on the living room’s couch.

“I think several crimes were committed here, including eating nachos without a tray,” she states. The dark green carpet in the bathroom particularly rubs Jones the wrong way, as she remarks, “Who puts carpet in the bathroom? People doo-doo in here.”

Grossed out, Jones heads upstairs to the loft bedroom, which features several beds and taxidermied animals mounted on the walls. “What? Everybody’s sleeping up here?” she questions. “Do we need to call the authorities? This is the creepiest room I have ever seen. Hell to the no, no, no, no.”

Fans will have to tune in to Roast My Rental to see Jones’ full review and find out whether the home receives an upgrade.

Jones shared her excitement for the series in a statement earlier this month. “Millions of people check into vacation rentals each year, but sometimes what’s posted online is not reality,” she shared. “There are rentals with great photos, but the reviews tell a very different story…and I’m gonna find out why.”

She continued, “As a comedian who’s been on the road for years, trust me, I’ve stayed in a lot of rentals and have seen the good, the bad, and the ‘oh hell no.’ These owners know their rentals aren’t working, so they’ve asked me to call out the problems, help fix them, and offer them a shot to turn these 1-star disasters into 5-star escapes.”
