Who Is Hudson on ‘General Hospital’? Troy Lennon Appel Cast as Mysterious Newcomer

General Hospital is expanding its roster with the addition of Troy Lennon Appel, who has been cast in the newly created role of Hudson, TV Insider can exclusively report.

A business executive with mysterious ties, Hudson is poised to make an impact in Port Charles, and Appel is already relishing his time on the soap. “Working on GH has been nothing short of an incredible, fast-paced experience,” Appel enthuses. “Everyone is very professional; they’re on top of every intricate part of this very established, well-oiled machine, and I’m just trying to keep up and not halt the process in any way.”

According to his website, Appel discovered acting during his sophomore year of high school after a teacher encouraged him to give it a try, though he did not pursue it seriously for another four years. His first performance came in a play at Muhlenberg College, which led to additional stage opportunities. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Communications, and was a two-time conference qualifier in the discus for the Varsity Track and Field team. His recent credits include Finding Master Right and Menflix, and he appeared in The Goldbergs star Hayley Orrantia‘s music video, “Find Yourself Somebody.”

Though daytime television is uncharted territory for Appel, he says the transition has been seamless. “So many of the cast and crew have gone out of their way to welcome me, and I am immensely grateful for how simple and easy this transition has been,” he adds. “I owe it all to them. They know what they’re doing, and I hope to learn as much as I can and add to the show, to the best of my ability.”

Appel’s casting marks the fourth major addition announced by GH in the past two weeks. Dean Geyer has joined the show as Tristan Roberts and will make his debut on July 13, while Kelly Kruger has been tapped to play Serena Baldwin and is also set to appear next month. Additionally, the show has aged Scout Cain, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Sam McCall’s (Kelli Monaco) daughter, with Kayden Brenna Tokarski taking over the role next month. Viewers will first see Appel on July 30, when Hudson arrives in Port Charles.

Executive producer Frank Valentini tells TV Insider, “Troy is a terrific guy, and we are excited to have him join our cast. And fans will be intrigued to see how his character fits into the story.“
