Prime Video and MGM+’s Spider-Noircrawled its way out of the shadows with a stylish debut packed with pulpy action, brutal betrayals, and one deeply broken hero trying to find his way back to redemption. Unfortunately, Ben Reilly’s (Nicolas Cage) adventures through the mean streets of 1930s New York have already come to an end.

On September 4, Variety reported that Spider-Noir had been canceled after just one season and eight episodes. The series premiered on MGM+ on May 25 before making its streaming debut on Prime Video the following day.

The cancellation came despite some impressive accolades and viewership numbers. According to Nielsen’s streaming ratings, the series also racked up 2.6 billion viewing minutes during its first six weeks.
