‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Star Teases ‘Big Bang Theory’ Easter Eggs as Fan-Favorite Boards Spinoff
What To Know
- The Big Bang Theory star Lauren Lapkus is revealing Easter eggs that will be uncovered in HBO Max’s spinoff Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
- Plus, the show’s latest teaser uncovers the return of a fan favorite.
A new chapter in The Big Bang Theory TV universe is almost here as HBO Max gears up for the arrival of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, and while the spinoff teases some multiversal adventures for the titular comic book shop owner, Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), costar Lauren Lapkus is teasing plenty of references to the flagship series are on the way.
“I mean, I’m so excited for them to see it because we have a lot of characters that are familiar to them,” Lapkus, who plays Stuart’s girlfriend Denise, told People, as she hinted that “a lot of good Easter eggs” will be present for fans to uncover.
One of those characters returning appears to be Wil Wheaton, who is seen in the latest tease for the show. Wheaton, known for his role in Stand By Me, famously played a heightened version of himself in the former CBS comedy.
While the Easter eggs will offer fans some familiarity with the new show, the multiverse twist gives the franchise a fresh spin. “It’s also this whole new thing… Each episode is so unique. We’re saving the universe and failing it, so we’re messing up the universe in each episode, and we end up in a different reality,” Lapkus shared.
“So everything changes in each episode, and I think people are going to be really surprised and delighted with it.” In other words, fans can expect some genre twists as the comedy tackles different universes for Stuart, Denise, geologist pal Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).
As fans know, this is just the latest spinoff in the long-running franchise from Chuck Lorre, which has also included Young Sheldon and CBS’s current hit comedy Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will be the franchise’s first streaming spinoff, allowing for potentially more risqué content.
