CBS Finales, ‘Summer of ’94,’ National Memorial Day Concert, Indy 500 & More Sports
CBS closes out its traditional season with the finales of Marshals and Tracker. Fox stokes World Cup fever with a documentary about the Summer of ’94, when the U.S. hosted the event for the first time. The Pitt‘s Noah Wyle is among the stars gathering at the U.S. Capitol for the annual National Memorial Day Concert. Sports highlights include the Indianapolis 500, the start of the French Open, and the continuation of the Stanley Cup and NBA conference finals.

Marshals
SUNDAY: Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and his fellow U.S. Marshals have their hands full in an eventful Season 1 finale of the Yellowstone spinoff, marking the final night of most original scripted programming across the major broadcast networks until fall. The action begins with another assassination attempt targeting Broken Rock Reservation chairman Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), whom Kayce is assigned to protect while the crew searches for who’s responsible. (Think militia.) On the home front, Kayce and son Tate (Brecken Merrill) face an existential crisis when cattleman Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey) has designs on their beloved ranch. Followed by the Season 3 finale of Tracker (9/8c), with Colter (Justin Hartley) joined by brother Russell (The Boys‘ Jensen Ackles) to search for the victim of a shadowy research project associated with their late father.

Summer of ’94
SATURDAY: With just a few weeks until the U.S. begins co-hosting this year’s highly anticipated World Cup tournament, Fox stokes soccer fever with a nostalgic look back at a turning point in our nation’s relationship with the sport. The documentary recaptures the excitement 32 years ago when the U.S. first hosted the event, forming a U.S. Men’s National Team without a pro league to draw from. The performance of these underdogs, coached by Bora Milutinović, kindled a passion for soccer that led to the formation of Major League Soccer two years later. The film includes archival footage of the 1994 tournament, captured by the players and their coach on camcorders.

National Memorial Day Concert
SUNDAY: History looms large over this year’s holiday concert from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, honoring the service of U.S. military members on the 250th anniversary of our independence. Actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise return as hosts, with special guests, including The Pitt Emmy winner Noah Wyle leading a segment on the American Revolution in 1776. Breaking Bad‘s Jonathan Banks introduces a segment marking the 85th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, and Melissa Leo (Homicide: Life on the Street) participates in a 25th anniversary remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The 90-minute concert features tributes to Vietnam War veterans, Gold Star families, and performances by country music stars Mickey Guyton, Jamey Johnson, Alan Jackson, singer-songwriter Andy Grammer, Broadway veteran Laura Osnes, and gospel star Blessing Offor, with pops conductor Jack Everly directing the National Symphony Orchestra.

Indy 500
SUNDAY: With Indiana Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti driving the honorary pace car, and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark as Grand Marshal, the stage is set for the 110th running of the iconic race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with defending champion Alex Palou starting on the pole. Gentlemen (and lady), start your engines.
Other sports highlights on a busy weekend include the first round of the French Open (Sunday, starts at 5 am/ET on TNT, truTV and HBO Max), the running of the F1 Canadian Grand Prix (Sunday, livestreaming on Netflix starting at 2:50 pm/ET), game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals (Saturday, 8 pm/ET), with the New York Knicks up 2-0 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals (Sunday, 8 pm/ET, NBC) between reigning champs Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, and hockey action with the Stanley Cup Conference Finals featuring Game 2 between the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes (Saturday, 7 pm/ET, TNT, truTV and HBO Max) and Game 3 between the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights (Sunday, 8 pm/ET, ESPN).

When I Said I Do
SATURDAY: A country-music hit by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman-Black inspired this heartwarmer, starring Grey’s Anatomy and Everwood alum Sarah Drew as Ali, a widow whose work as a search-and-rescue K9 handler has helped her heal from losing her husband in the line of duty. Romance isn’t on the table until she meets Shawn (Eric Johnson), a rescue specialist who’s also familiar with love and loss. The Blacks appear in the film as themselves, hosting a relationship podcast that helps guide Ali and Shawn through their love story.

On Saturday there are a few sprinkles of things to watch: a Looney Tunes special about how farm animals 'comply' with WWII-era blackouts. Josh Gates is on all evening, and Smithsonian Channel and American History Channel (AHC) are featuring war-focused documentary shows. Speaking of war, one of tonight's episodes of Combat, on H&I, is one of my favorites, called The Steeple. If someone wanted to try watching Combat, I would suggest starting with this episode (which I believe is based on an actual event). ..
On Sunday, TCM again shows a war-related cartoon, followed by war-related (or war-adjacent) movies. AHC again has an excellent series, WWII in Color showing. My only 'appointment' is to watch Tracker, to see if the season finale is any more compelling than most other episodes, which is doubtful. I'm expecting a ho-hum finale for a ho-hum series.

Tracker for me as well. Keeping my expectations low.
That’s the last show I have until the fall season starts up.
Have a great summer!

BTW the other day I was watching an episode of SWAT while I did other stuff, and suddenly thought "Hey, I know that voice!!" I looked at the TV and confirmed it: the actor who plays Randy from Tracker was on SWAT. He was a rapper.
