College Football Bowl Games TV Schedule 2022-23
The stampede of college football bowl games begins Friday, December 16, and the dust won’t clear until a national champion is crowned on Monday, January 9, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Once again, there are too many bowl games and only a handful that really matter. But that’s going to change in 2024, when the College Football Playoff expands from four teams to 12.
In the 12-team format, the four highest-ranked conference champions are seeded Nos. 1-4 and each receive a first-round bye. The Nos. 5-12 seeds play each other in the first round during the third week of December. The quarterfinals and semifinals are played in bowl games on a rotating basis, and the national championship game continues to be held at a neutral site.
Until then, the four-team playoff will have to do. This year’s CFP Semifinals take place New Year’s Eve Saturday, December 31. The defending champion Georgia Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed and will play the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The No. 2 Michigan Wolverines face the No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.
