Madeleine Albright Dies at 84: Her Best TV Cameos on ‘Parks and Recreation’ & More

Madeleine Albright has died. The politician was 84 and best known for being the United States’ first female Secretary of State.

According to CNN, a statement from Albright’s family confirmed the news, revealing that she lost a battle with cancer. Albright memorably served as the 64th Secretary of State from the years 1997 to 2001 under the Clinton administration.

Along with her history-making role, Albright is also credited with helping guide U.S. foreign policy following the Cold War. Prior to serving as Secretary of State, Albright served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. More recently, Albright was awarded the Presidential of Freedom in 2012 by then-President Barack Obama.
