‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ Teaser Previews Henry & Clare’s Twisty Romance (VIDEO)
The first trailer for The Time Traveler’s Wife has officially arrived as Theo James and Rose Leslie take center stage in the romance based on Audrey Niffenegger’s bestselling book.
The show will officially arrive this May on HBO and HBO Max, bringing the six-episode season adaptation to viewers this spring. As teased in the preview, below, James and Leslie take on the characters of Henry DeTamble and Clare Abshire in the time-jumping story.

Adapted for television by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and directed by David Nutter (Game of Thrones), the series shines a light on the one problem in Henry and Clare’s marriage, which is time travel. “It’s not a superpower, it’s what’s wrong with me,” James’ Henry says in the teaser. “I can’t keep hold of the current moment, I just slide off. I fall back in time. It’s not changeable.”
Slipping in and out of moments in time, Clare is left to wait for Henry, as she laments, “When he’s gone, I wait and I worry.” And it isn’t any better for him, “I’m always going and she can’t follow,” he shares. It’s a conundrum that can only be found in sci-fi fantasy, but it doesn’t make it any less tragic.
“I wonder where he is, when he is, if he’s in danger,” Claire says into the camera, “but I married a time traveler, it’s complicated.” Stay tuned to see just how complicated things get for this pair when The Time Traveler’s Wife arrives on HBO and HBO Max this May. And keep an eye out for an official premiere as an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
