Has ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Set up Jess’ Exit?

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for FBI: Most Wanted Season 3 Episode 13 “Overlooked.”]
FBI: Most Wanted is saying goodbye to Fugitive Task Force leader Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon) in the next episode (airing March 8), so did the latest give us any indication of how he’ll be saying goodbye? Sort of, plus we may know what to expect from the team before Dylan McDermott’s new character joins in April.
Jess hasn’t had the easiest time adjusting since his daughter Tali (YaYa Gosselin) left for boarding school. “It feels so different around here,” he admitted to his girlfriend, Sarah (Jen Landon). Letting her leave was the right call, they agreed, plus, as Sarah pointed out, he still has her. His team member, Hana Gibson (Keisha Castle-Hughes), also offered a fresh perspective on the situation, based on her parents’ experience once the kids were out of their house. Her parents saw it as free-birding, a chance for a new chapter and to have date nights and put each other first.
And that’s what Jess does with Sarah at the end of the episode, planning a night out in Manhattan for the two of them. “It occurred to me that I never got the opportunity to court you … sweep you off your feet, romance you,” he explains. “We have time now, and I want to.”
Could it be that Jess decides that his “new chapter” is going to include leaving the FBI and the Fugitive Task Force to focus more on his personal life and relationship with Sarah? Right now, it seems that’s the only likely scenario, but we have no idea what might occur during his last episode. That could be his plan, only for something to happen during the case to change that or cement that decision.
“Overlooked” also seemed to offer a glimpse at what we’ll see from the team in terms of leadership in Jess’ absence and before they officially get a new leader. Kristin Gaines (Alexa Davalos) took lead and issued assignments, including to Jess, at the beginning of the episode’s investigation. “Thank you for taking point,” he told her. “Nice work.” Will she continue to step into that role in his absence?

Sad to see him go and was really sad when they took all the Native Americans off the back when they did and I don't remember a explanation why they all disappeared being as they were family 😢
I hate when does change so much.

Thank You!! That's what I've been wondering, the Brother in law left the team tben the Grandparents that was taking care of Jess daughter. They even stop talking about the local reservation!

I hate to see Jess's character leave the show but feel good about him making changes in his life. He started out as such a harden, sad interverted type of personality but we have seen him become a warmer, happier,extroverted tye of person as series has proceeded due to finding a new love and his daughter growing up. I wish Jess much success and happiness in his new retired lifestyle.

No! No! No! There have been too many changes from the original version! I loved Jess's in- laws and Tallie being at the house!! It is such a good show, but has gone astray!!!

Well I watched the show in spite of him so it's a great change for me. Differerent strokes for different folks I guess.

The show will not be the same without him. Just like NCIS, harmony replacement is a good actor, but when secondary actors are declining in NCIS. Hope this will not be the case here.

I think that they will simply write out his character as either retiring early to pursue a different job where he has time to pursue "courting" Sarah or deciding to help Sarah pursue her dreams.

I’m disappointed that Jess is leaving. Why is leaving the show. I’m a big fan of Jess. I watched him when he played a demon in charmed and in several movies he was in. He hasn’t acted in a series I think since charmed and was glad to see him back. I’m sorry he’s leaving but you got to do what you got to do. I hope his leaving doesn’t affect me watching the show.

Wasn't Nip/Tuck after Charmed? That had a good run as well. Julian McMahon is always a joy to watch. I do agree with most of the comments. I loved the Native American component of the program. It was something no other prime time show was doing, which made it unique. Tallie's heritage from her late mother and her story could have been explored without taking over the main plot.

I think the 16 hour days or more +6 days a week takes a lot out of a younger Person let alone the 50 year old who is the main character. Grueling hours.I am so very sorry he is leaving. People do not understand how hard the acting work is.
But MW will always be Jess to me.. So I'm done after his last@😰
