‘The Larry David Story’ Documentary Coming to HBO in March (VIDEO)
It’s pretty, pretty, pretty good news for Larry David fans as HBO will release a two-part documentary detailing the Seinfeld co-creator’s rise from unknown stand-up comedian to award-winning TV star and writer.
Set to air back-to-back on March 1 on HBO and HBO Max, The Larry David Story will chronicle David’s career as a comedian, actor, writer, director, and television producer, from his “humble beginnings as an unfunny Brooklyn kid” to becoming “America’s favorite misanthrope.”
David sits down with his longtime friend and director Larry Charles (Borat) to discuss everything from his personal and professional life to his thoughts on metaphysics and parenthood. The Emmy-winning comedian will detail his journey into show business, including his work on the hugely popular Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
“I am a total fraud, and the Curb outlet for me is this guy I wanna be,” David confesses in the trailer (watch below). “He’s completely, completely honest, just the opposite of who I am. And it’s a thrill. I got lucky… I’ll leave it at that.”
Charles served as director and executive producer on both parts of the documentary. Mark Herzog (Dirty John) also executive produced.
David made his mark on the industry as the co-creator and writer of NBC’s Seinfeld, which aired for nine seasons between 1989 and 1998, becoming the most popular show on television and one of the most influential sitcoms of all time. He would go on to create Curb Your Enthusiasm for HBO in 1999, another popular sitcom that stars David as a fictionalized version of himself.
Curb Your Enthusiasm finished airing its eleventh season back in December. There is no word yet on whether or not there will be a Season 12.
