Morena Baccarin Previews ‘The Endgame’: ‘This Is Not Your Typical Rivalry’
When this twisty thriller opens, the FBI believes it’s secured “the most dangerous woman in the world,” international arms dealer Elena Federova (Morena Baccarin, above), in a black site. Silly Feds.
“Elena orchestrated the entire thing to take down some corrupt members of the U.S. government,” Baccarin explains. “She has a long game planned, and her capture sets it in motion.” Where it ends is a mystery, but she makes a bold move tonight, commanding her operatives to take over seven New York banks.
“We’re not telling a realistic story about the FBI and CIA chasing bad guys. We want this to be fun,” the Homeland actress stresses. “The character is larger than life. [Even caged] she is dressed to the nines. She’s got to look fabulous while one-upping everybody and driving everybody insane.”
Flashbacks will reveal the defining tragedy Elena suffered as a girl in Belarus, and show her life with her husband/cohort Sergey Vodianov (Costa Ronin), whom the Feds believe is dead. Now, Elena desires a kind of partnership with smart, motivated FBI agent Val Turner (Ryan Michelle Bathe), whose career stalled after she helped convict her husband/colleague of bribery.
“Elena respects Val. She wants to convince Val they are on the same side,” Baccarin hints. “This is not your typical rivalry.”
