‘Vanderpump Rules’: The Soapy Saga at SUR Returns for Season 5

They can dish it out, but can they take it? Of course not! And that’s the fun of Vanderpump Rules, Bravo’s docuseries about the drama-prone waitstaff at Sur, the L.A. eatery owned by restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump.

On the menu for Season 5: Lovebirds Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz (above, with Vanderpump, center) are engaged, but their journey to the aisle is looking rocky. “The situation takes an unpredictable turn,” confirms Vanderpump. “I officiated the wedding, and I will not be doing that again!”

Happily ever after seems to be in short supply. Jax Taylor and girlfriend Brittany Cartwright are now coworkers, and the familiarity is breeding contempt. Meanwhile, hostess Lala Kent and her partner in crime, the mercurial DJ James Kennedy, continue to divide the group—as evidenced by copious drink-tossing in the premiere.

Still, despite their antics, Vanderpump has a soft spot for the misfit crew. “Sometimes I cringe at the stuff we show, but isn’t that what reality TV is about?” she says. “We’re not making Little House on the Prairie here.”
