Conquering the London stage before making a name for herself on international TV, Sonya Cassidy began preparing for her acting career during her teens, when her mother signed her up for a local youth theater program. Born in Bristol, England in 1987, Cassidy was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at age 17. She graduated in 2008, and by the following year, she had landed her first on screen role, a minor appearance on "Inspector Lewis" (ITV, 2006-2015). That same year, Cassidy co-starred with Kevin Spacey in a production of "Inherit the Wind" at the Old Vic. She went on to co-star in "The Lion in Winter" at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2011, all while making small TV appearances on shows like "Midsomer Murders" (ITV, 1997- ).
In 2012, Cassidy was cast in the recurring roles of Celine Ashworth on "Vera" (ITV, 2011- ) and Clara on "The Paradise" (BBC, 2012-13). Steadily growing in popularity as a TV actor, Cassidy then branched into film, appearing in the action thriller "Survivor" (2015) before joining the cast of "Humans" (Channel 4, 2015- ). In 2018, Cassidy was cast as Liz on the comedy series "Lodge 49" (AMC, 2018- ).
