While Jordan Gavaris came from a fertile acting area, he didn't seriously pursue acting until he was seventeen. With one teacher's discouragement, Gavaris put his acting ambitions on the back burner, but following the right encouragement from the right teacher, Gavaris bravely went ahead, and eventually launched a successful career. Born on September 25, 1989 in Caledon, Ontario, Canada, Gavaris did his first community stage production when he was eleven, playing Wilbur in "Charlotte's Web." Yet instead of diving into the acting trade and trying to make it as a performer, Gavaris didn't perform again for a long time because he went through a bad experience in high school where a teacher told him he shouldn't act. After getting the bug again, Gavaris went to an acting school and learned the famed Method style of performing, where actors inhabit and become the roles they play. This time, Gavaris decided at seventeen that he would seriously pursue acting as a career. Six months later, Gavaris was performing in his first movie, "45 RPM" (2008). He then joined the cast of "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (2001-15), the resurrection of the popular Canadian high school drama, where he played the role of Nathan. Gavaris finally achieved mainstream popularity playing the key supporting role of Felix Dawson on the critically acclaimed cult favorite science fiction series "Orphan Black" (BBC 2013- ). In addition to the critical praise and fan following that Gavaris received for his work, he won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama for his work on the series. He had not entirely hit the big time, however: also in 2013, Gavaris co-starred in the direct to video horror film "Curse of Chucky" (2013), a low-budget reboot of the once popular horror character.
