American audiences first took notice of Dilan Gwyn on the series "Beyond" (ABC Family, 2016- ), but that big break was hardly the beginning for the Swedish performer. Born in Stockholm in 1994, Gwyn grew up speaking Swedish and English, as well as Turkish thanks to her father, Kurdish journalist Orhan Kotan. After studying French for two years at the Sorbonne in Paris, Gwyn had four languages under her belt and was clearly poised for an international career. She studied film at the University of Stockholm before traveling stateside to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 2010.
By this point, Gwyn had appeared in a number of short films, but her horizons expanded considerably when she made her feature film debut in 2012 in the Swedish crime drama "Shoo bre" (2012). Her next major role took her to London, where she joined the cast of "Da Vinci's Demons" (BBC, 2013-2015) as the recurring character Yana. After appearing in a small role in "Dracula Untold" (2014), Gwyn's globetrotting career brought her back to America to co-star on "Beyond." Never one to stay in one place for too long, Gwyn concurrently joined the cast of the horror film "Heretiks" (2018).
