Alena Smith is an American writer, director, and showrunner, best known for creating the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series "Dickinson." Prior to "Dickinson," Smith contributed as a writer and producer on notable television series such as Showtime's "The Affair" and HBO's "The Newsroom."
Smith holds an MFA in playwriting from the Yale School of Drama. Her essays have appeared in publications such as The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. She is also the author of "Tween Hobo: Off The Rails," a novel inspired by her mid-2010s cult Twitter account, @tweenhobo.
