25 Funniest Stand-Up Comedy Specials, Ranked

Comedy is subjective, meaning not everyone finds the same things funny.

However, it is widely agreed upon that several of the names on our list, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, George Carlin, and Richard Pryor, are some of the funniest comedians of all time. Without them, standup comedy wouldn’t be what it is today, and many of Hollywood’s biggest stars wouldn’t exist today. That’s especially when you consider how many of today’s biggest stars come from the world of standup. Without Murphy, there’s no Beverly Hills Cop, no 48 Hours. Without Kevin Hart, there aren’t various buddy movies alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. No Robin Williams? Well, no iconic Genie in Aladdin or heartfelt speech in Good Will Hunting. And the list goes on.

As for our list, unlike others, we won’t be ranking the most groundbreaking or iconic, but the 25 funniest stand-up specials to ever exist. Take a look below at our picks and our reasons, then let us know if you agree in the comments!
